@WindedVoyage good news, I was there in 2018, there were plans to build the dock.

Originally being from a country, Switzerland, that relies greatly on tourism and having worked extensively in tourism, marketing and video production, I have experienced the best and not so best of the industry. I have been here sine before the pandemic and seen the development of Mindelo first hand. Lots of projects like new hotels being built, apartments and real estate projects. As well as a new pier for cruise ships that's almost finished. Lots of opportunities for locals. That being said, the minimum salary, $150, has not changed much since the pandemic. The locals in Mindelo do benefit from the ARC. But that's for a brief moment. Tourism does help the country prosper, but it also brings more petty crime and such. Us on our pretty boats seem rich in comparison. As far as your sympathy or lack there of, I don't think it's nice to pass judgement on our friendship without knowing the situation first hand.
