"From one hearing alone." The irony is that in the effort to make Mozart wait to enter the room, he heard the tune played a few times - long enough for him to learn it. I used to think he was showing off by letting the king keep the music but later I realized he might have been sincere. He saw that the king was trying to learn it and figured since he already knew it (it was so simple to him) why not let the king keep it so he can keep practicing? I think he was also in awe that the king could play at all by his reaction when he enters. Such a great scene.
