Why didn't you need to set start_x and start_y values and reset the position back to the start values like you did with the gdscript version?
@GameDevJourney4 күн бұрын
EXCELLENT QUESTION! It is because of the way that shaders work. UV coordinates typically range from 0 to 1 in both U (horizontal) and V (vertical) directions. However, if the UV values go beyond 1 (or below 0), most game engines are set to wrap the texture, which means it repeats itself rather than going blank.

Brilliant stuff, thank you. I notice that if you resize the screen larger than the TextureRect, there's a problem as it show's the blank background. I resolved this by adding connecting a signal on window resize: get_tree().get_root().size_changed.connect(window_size_changed) And then created a window_size_changed function like this: func window_size_changed(): background.size = get_tree().get_root().size + Vector2i(128,128) Seems to work a charm now. Great video. Thanks for making stuff like this.

Thanks for the positive feedback and excellent solution! In my next video I will demonstrate another way to achieve this same effect using a shader!

@@GameDevJourney ugh i don't use Linux at the moment saddle i know that bevvy its Linux only. i will check out cry and o3de they at least are triple A of 3D graphics but there not much tutorial vids on theme maybe even flax engine who was made by 1 person by the way ... its freaking hard to find a good engine who can do 3D and 2D well . maybe defult its a good option too but i must start to learn lua . or maybe i will use armory and upbge i know that upbge its build on top of blender and its a game engine and armory its more like addon who transoms blender into a game engine i hate when i always have to restart but the criticism on the godot engine its vallate now when i think about it

Amount of inconsistencies in this video is just wild. - I don't participate in Godot politics (I guess nowadays kids call "politics" anything). - BUT, I share with everyone how cool Godot is. I hope this video is just a joke, and if not... We are doomed.

Recent news, are they still not political? 🤔 Blocking platnium tier backers, developers, and talking about wanting to get rid of the cockroaches? 🤔 Everything I've read thus far lines up with what Andrii Doroshenko (Xrayez) has written in his online book. All the ecelebs reporting on the latest news can't or unwilling to dive a little further. _If you're a hobbyist, I'm sure the code itself is fine (but doesn't scale, you're not learning a real tool for industry use). Just don't interact with the community._ 🤷♂
Appreciate the video! But where did you get the footage? Our newest demo looks drastically different and visually better lol. Thank you, though. :)

So the engine he is using is Unity, right? Wow, it's a very interesting project, it looks like it's inspired by Hollow Knight because of its artistic style and some mechanics.

Yes, Unity. You are right - the hand drawn art style is very reminiscent of Hollow Knight!
