I haven’t even seen the art spoken about here. But the way she describes it makes me what to buy it immediately! So visceral. She gives it so much meaning. Beautiful 💓

Love your channel. Curious, however, as to why you have never (or yet) featured the works of Kevin A. Williams (WAK)? Do you not know who he is and his contribution to contemporary Black Art?

As a Self taught artist (Musician) in a country like Pakistan full of religious extremism towards artists and minorities, I am luckily able to enhance my art in a locked room of my home and this is the best opportunity. A friend in Europe told me about this program. This is the place where I belong. Could someone help me get into any artist residency? I want to escape from a toxic country and people with the help of my art which is the only thing I am passionate about.

The way I see it a collection is your language and having different styles to present to a gallery is like speaking different languages in a sentence, it just won’t make sense and they won’t understand it.

Great video but pigeonholing is a bit constraining as collecting and the Art world is a journey and one may or may not shift their position at any given time, I know I have. Being too rigid in one aspect can be ok but also limiting in another and closing one off from the benefits of another. I have been collecting and researching Art for 20+ years and find that to benefit the most from collecting etc... one may want to experience and immerse oneself in any avenue of the art world and find one's place or starting point. Even trying or becoming an Artist, I did just that.

So basically, all AMERICAN artists. Only one African. What is this African American?? They are American artists, nothing special.

@@DearGlorywithMoriahAlise They're all Black, which is why they're on your list. By focusing solely on their skin color, you're diminishing their artistic identity. These individuals are not African; they're American. Only one person on your list is actually from Africa. How sad to be called a black artist or a woman artist rather than an artist. Americans always love to divide and make issues where there is none. Sad.

I am interestedly at aww with the interviewer; Beautiful woman, she has a sweet therapeutic pull + demeanor, confident but vulnerable personality, mysterious. 10 mins in the video I can’t stop wondering why she tilts her head so slightly… it’s too cute. Yo gurl is a walking canvas. 😂 I might use her look for future props.

More to the point regarding artists being able to talk about their individual works and/or a collection or series of works: If you aren't able to coherently and honestly speak about your work why should a gallerist, curator want to feature/represent you? Even more importantly, why would anyone want to buy it if as the artist you don't know why you're creating your work or series... As a curator it can be annoying to get a clear narrative about an aritst's works I'm really drawn to if the artist isn't able to talk about their own work let alone their aesthetic and process. As Moriah stated, not talking about your work in an arrogant way. Also not in a way that's all fluff, BS or that totally misses the mark of your narrative is and what your art "says" visually. Emerging, "unknown", unrepresented and uncollected artists who are pricing their work at unrealistic prices (i.e. $25K, $50K+...) especially with the reasoning of "Well, one day someone may buy it for that price, so why not?" will instantly be dismissed by curators, gallerists, agents and patrons.
