That's amazing work! I had started a project that I eventually abandoned, trying to make GiJoe 25th anniversary-type figures (being their scale in height) but being Transformer Headmasters, in other words figures transforming into heads of the robots. I tried different methods to at least make the figure head but eventually gave up. I tried designing it on different computer programs and sent the file to 3d print it. It didn't work out but at least I had an idea. I then tried to get vitruvian HACKS figures and try to work on those by adding clay/dough and try to design the face and so on but I have no prior experience (I'm sure that it would take time to master that). It is fun but it would take time and money to accomplish that.

Once you print the figure, cast it in silicon then in resin. You can use different types of resin so that you get the flexibility you need. Even prototyping, they do this. This is just the next step before you get a figure. Also, make a small gap in the ball to allow it to pop in. This way you still keep a tight joint.
@AzrachToys4 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I have not tried molding and casting yet. Hopefully I will get to try it soon. Thank you for the tips.
@gumie35793 күн бұрын
@@AzrachToys Yeah, there are a few videos here from a Q&A from Hasbro Pulse and they do a great job of talking about the processes. After they 3D print everything, it goes to casting. Casting is not hard. Just start with the silicone mold and then pour your resin. Good video, I'm getting my first 3D printer.

Thank you so much for doing these expermients so we don't have to. I just wanted to ask: we know different types of plastics are used for different parts of an action figure, are you using Tough74 for the whole figure or as an equivalent of a specific type of plastic i.e.: ABS, PVC, POM, etc? If it's the latter, have you figured out sort of an equivalency chart? Thanks again and congrats on the new figures, they look amazing!
@AzrachToysАй бұрын
Hey there. I thought a lot about how I can best answer this. It is very difficult for me to classify the resins into plastic categories. However, I can provide you with what parts I would print with which resin. for any body parts like biceps, thighs, calves that need to be flexible when heated but solid when room temperature I would print with the M58 + Anti Impact mix 50-50 for any joint parts that do not need flexibility but needs to have some grip I recommend the tough74 for flexible rubber like parts like diapers and overlays like jackets the F39 seems like a great option I hope that helps. I will typically use the same resin for all parts of the figure. I have printed whole figures in Tough74 and also in m58 50% - 50% anti impact. I hope that helps.

Yawn get off Mafex’s tip and taint my guy. Create ideas from your own backbone and maybe then and only then will you make a printable figure that doesn’t break apart trying to mimic plastic and relying on heat which damages prints when assembling. Also that Mafex Cyclops wannabe body looks janky and once again would be a great design if you got off their teet/ 🥜 and created something sensible made FOR PRINTED PARTS!!! Mafex should sue you for infringement 😂😂😂😂. News flash: loose snap in pegs instead of a sensible 3pc hinge set up will ALWAYS BREAK OVER TIME and get loose once any heat or room temp and comes into play and that bs design breaks EVERY TIME DURING ASSEMBLY!!!
