Help. I have a LA165 l don't understand the rear s hooks. The chassis is too narrow. How do l fix this??
@peteryork6910Ай бұрын
Thanks for the video, I'm considering getting a S240 with the snow blower however I'm 69 and have a bad shoulder. I'm wondering how hard it is to raise and lower the blower with the handle
@dkchefАй бұрын
It does take effort. If your shoulder is bad, probably will be an issue. There is a $800+ power option. Easy to install. Or many add an inexpensive 12v winch.
@dkchefАй бұрын
Where are you located. I have a JD power option.

Thank you. Im in Canada. I may go with cub cadet then. I saw the guy lower it using his finger and thumb with no effort. Appreciate you quick response.

What type of fuel is recommended to use and also fuel/oil ratio it requires .? I just bought the same boat motor ..
@dkchef8 ай бұрын
I mix 50:1. Use ethanol free fuel if available. Otherwise best fuel you can buy. Before storage, remove fuel line and run all fuel out, using choke when it sputters.

Do you mean where the spring on the end of PTO cable goes on the snowblower attachment? Or on the mower?
@truenorthmuskoka907710 ай бұрын
The PTO spring broke on my L125. I was hoping to see how you installed that spring for the blower to operate. I cant see on mine where it attached. There is no slot for the spring end to go into
@bournefree11 ай бұрын
the manual arm you use to raise and lower the blower looks so easy and smooth, mine is so difficult, did you do anything to adjust it???
@dkchef11 ай бұрын
No, I just use as is. If you have the newer one, the 2 piece quick detach for the S100 and newer, I found that lever very difficult to lift.
@bournefree11 ай бұрын
do chains on front tires help with the sliding issues? what size?
@dkchef11 ай бұрын
Chains on front do help. These are off a walk behind snowblower. I don’t have a size. Had to cut to fit. I have seen others use a length of bicycle chain. Deflate. Wrap chain around circumference and cut to fit, then re-inflate.

Thanks for the video! I have the same snowblower attached for my 100 series tractor. I have an issue with the lift arm not engaging and I am not able to get the tractor to stay lifted on its own. Would you recommend anything I can try to troubleshoot? I thought about replacing the spring but unsure where to locate that part
@dkchef Жыл бұрын
Perhaps there is dirt in the hole where the spring loaded pin locks in. Can you get the pin go in manually? Is the spring in place? Or is the cable corroded or binding, keeping the pin out?

Built for our moose hunting. Used it several years. Great design. Lightweight and fits in box of 1 pick up. Sold. Cannot supply a cost. Material alone probably over $3k

is it possible to attach the snow blower attachment to the S100? (is that what's going on here?) I can't get a straight answer from anyone, but people have told me the S100 is too light for the snow blower attachment. I'll wrap the rear wheels in wheel chains, add weights, and my 300+ pound body - I think it will be heavy enough for traction. I don't need anything larger than an entry level mower because the amount of my property that is grass is less than one acre. That's why i don't want to spend money on a higher level mower, but still want the snow blower attachment for my paved 330 foot driveway
@dkchef Жыл бұрын
I am not a JD expert. I think the main difference between your S100 and perhaps an older LA 125 is engine size, and few things like cruise or manual PTO. I think the frame quality or material weight is about the same for all the 100. Will the single cylinder on your S100 drive a snowblower? Sure.
@dkchef11 ай бұрын
The S100 uses a different style. The newer JD 2 piece quick detach. More difficult to install and more difficult to lift with hand lever.

From what I can see the bucket doesn't curl up far enough. The company I worked for did a lot of road work. Digging and loading tandem trucks. When the 426 curved boom first came out the back bucket wouldn't curl far enough and dumped most of the load on the ground by the time you got the back bucket high enough to clear the side boards. We squealed till the owner saw what was going on and he squealed to Cat. Well we had to wait 2 weeks but they swapped out the bucket cylinder for a longer one.

David, It's been 11 years since your post, thanks for keeping it up! I have a Merlin with a close serial number to yours (M1191) and am trying to determine its gross weight since it is not clear in my information. Mine was originally a rotax 592 and being close in the production line as yours, and a 582, it is likely the same GW as yours. Any chance you have your GW and can share it? Thanks, Will
