This is really cool! One of your systems had two central bodies orbiting each other and the third was orbiting the two. The two central bodies act as a single body in this case allowing a stable system. I believe this is one of the special solution cases of the Three Body Problem.

1:45, The one that is likely a “decimal error”, is most definitely a floating point consequence,, or more likely a consequence of the pixels that make up the space itself (assuming your metric space is built around the graphics, rather than projecting a metric space into any scale). Regardless, it might be better to store the body coordinates in a non-floating point, so you can handle divisions by 0 axiomatically. For example, if Gravity is infinite, you can tell it what to do in those specific situations. If it is modeled after our universe, and we don’t know what would happen from a physicist standpoint (because of some indeterminate observation),, then you can make multiple versions of the universe for each case of the axiom Unless there are infinite cases. I don’t think there should be- it should just be 2 or 4 or something like that (yeses and nos)

In this code, I projected the positions into the Turtle graphics generator, so it wasn't an error due to the pixels. Anyways, I am thinking about revisiting the video this summer and streamlining the code as well as using a different graphics generator so that the code can run faster.

Thanks your simulation really helped me understand how a very small change can affect the whole system as I had a hard time imagining it.

What equation are you using to calculate the motion of the bodies?
@ChrisMeyers3 ай бұрын
I used Newton's gravity equation to get acceleration, then used kinematics to get position and velocity. The code is in the description if you want to check it out.
