The game was in Pittsburgh because the NFL was still going on the old system where they assigned playoff home games based on yearly rotation. This was because they usually needed extra time to reserve the stadium. By the 1970s, this tradition was unnecessary, and it was changed in 1975.

Hey Man, I'm a collector myself I've seen a few things I would love to get from you, I have tons of high quality games from the early 70s to now. I also have a handful of late 60s games. Where could we get in touch?

The Redskins were 10-6 in 1979 and were already 1 of the toughest teams to beat on the road, because of RFK Stadium and the Washington fans. So this was a pretty impressive win by the Oilers.
@DerikSchneider10 күн бұрын
The Oilers were 1 of the best running teams in the NFL in 1979. The Redskins had a fairly weak run defense, but very good against the pass that year. The Oilers also had a strong defense. So you would have to think that the Oilers had the edge going into this game.

I was at this game. I remember Bobby Bryant's big play. Cracking Billy Joe Dupree and causing an interception, a goal line interception and an interception for a TD return.

Better years n days, my friends. If you're lucky enough to have be around then, you know. If not, you missed such a great time for everything, not just football. Glad and appreciative we can relive some of it.

My memory is that it was foggier than any of the footage here shows. I had Dolphins +4 1/2 in this game. Harrahs Lake Tahoe sports book. Drove three hours just to go there and bet this game. I think I bet 385 to win 350. A lot of money for back then. Especially for someone who wasn’t even old enough to be in the casino. LOL. A memorable day. Thanks for the post.

Jeff Lynne's and the entire ELO team are by far the greatest artists of Rock and Roll. I'm 70 and first saw them at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan back in 1978 and the entire band and their equipment were inside of a huge spacecraft shaped saucer and the top was raised revealing the band and the light show and concert was the best stage prop of all time. Rock and Roll is the reason I am still alive today. I get so much energy listening to Rock and Roll music. Keep it coming ELO .Ozzie from the Detroit area
