Thank you so much for this. One solution I found for the "file format not matching the file extension" error is to open the document in TextEdit. I was able to copy the text and paste it into another file that way.

Hey how do you actually tick the box in the word version? The only option I am seeing is the options button to add a tick with a new box which seems counterintuitive, the whole point is to have a box and tick as I go? Any solutions, thanks for the up to date developer add

First, you can try resetting the chart to its default settings by right-clicking on the chart and selecting "Reset to Match Style". You can also try clearing the cache by going to File > Options > Advanced > Display and checking the "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" option. There is a sign in the up-right corner of a chart in Excel for Windows but not Excel for Mac. The chart elements in Excel for Mac is in Chart Design tab. Hope this is of some help

Couple of suggestions I found for you, Change the File Extension Manually - .docx to .doc Change the File Type to .asd Another solution that may help you get rid of the “Word cannot open the file because the file format does not match the file extension” message is to change the file type. Step 1: Open File Explorer and copy the file with the error. Step 2: Navigate to the following path: C:Users%username%AppDataLocalMicrosoftOfficeUnsavedFiles Step 3: Paste the copied file here. Then right-click the file and select Rename. Step 4: Change the file type to .asd and then click Yes. Step 5: Select Word and click Open from the left panel. Then click Recover Unsaved Documents at the bottom. Step 6: In the list, double-click the right file to open it and then save it. Once you finish the above steps, you can open the file with the correct extension.

How do I recover it when it WAS saved and and I had to restart and then the document gone and it’s “auto recovered” but it deleted a bunch of my work? I went in here and the version that it auto recovered was the one that was there, not the one I’d saved before restarting.
