Ciao Daniela, ogni volta che te ne sento parlare, mi viene voglia di leggere "David Copperfield". Devo seguire il tuo esempio e leggerne qualche pagina al giorno, affiancandolo ad altre letture. What great choices for this tag! You really did a nice job with it! I am interested in The Glass Maker. There is a "glass house" near me in Virginia. It is in a National Park near Jamestown. It is from the colonial times (or at least parts of it are!) They show you how glass was made in the 1600's - it's fascinating and Donna loves it because the process is somewhat similar to pottery making.

Hi, Daniela - very nice choices! What a great concept for a free library! I would love to start and run something like that. I think it would be popular here. Anyway, I wanted to say that I have been the same way with the tags lately - I was caught up and now I'm behind again - LOL! Hi, Daniela! "The Master and Margherita" is an excellent book but it is not for everybody. There are many people who don´t like it and that´s why they give it away. I enjoyed reading it and I believe so will you if you don´t mind meeting a talking cat and other supernatural phenomena. As for Hemingway, I´m not especially fond of his novels but I did enjoy "Across the River and Into the Trees" taking place in Venice (there´s a movie based on this novel as well). And "A Movable Feast" is a real treat describing Hemingway´s life in Paris and writing about various writers and artists living there. I can only recommend you these two books.
@Uncommon_Reader
@Uncommon_Reader 19 күн бұрын
Hello Marian, thank you so much for your suggestions on Hemingway. I think I'd enjoy his book about his life in Paris as he was also frequenter of the first Shakespeare and Co. bookstore and its crowd. I do love to hear non-human voices narrating books. I recently enjoyed Elif Shafak 'The island of Missing Trees' and its fig tree who was quite funny and charming 😉 so I may like Bulgakov's book. We shall see!
@marianpochyly

I quite believe you will like "A Movable Feast" as you love Paris. When I was in Paris many years ago, I made a special tour of places connected with Hemingway. I even wrote a blog about it. Yeah, the fig tree´s narration of events was really sweet, I enjoyed it very much. Those chapters are written in especially nice language, adding them a special charm. I have finished reading "The Bastard of Istanbul" this week (I liked it) and now I´m reading Ilaria Tuti´s "Daughter of Ashes".

If you read Eduard Limonov's novel «It's Me, Eddie» (1976), of which the plot makes up about 66% of Kirill Serebrennikov's film, you might ask yourself: why did this film need Emmanuel Carrère? 😎

@@Uncommon_Reader You misunderstood me. Read Limonov's books, not Carrère's. Limonov spent his whole life writing his own biography independently, book by book! I live near Venice (kind of, it's about 90 min drive) on the Adriatic sea. Thank you for your Stephen King suggestion, I will definitely add that to my reading list. @@Uncommon_Reader I missed going to Rome in the 80s because I had four children with me. Now I can’t go because I have arthritis and use a cane. Rome would be too difficult with all those seven hills andcobbled streets. I I heard that Siena is a nice city and flatter. I’ve been to Florence and remember spending the whole day in the Ufizzi Museum, it was marvelous how they went from the earliest periods to the latter. Most of all I love Italian people and Italian food is my favorite. my daughter laughs at me because I eat pasta every day. Not so unusual in Italy? There are very good Italian restaurants. In Paris as well. I’ve been to Paris four times and keep going back. But I confess, I haven’t spent much time in Montmartre as other parts of Paris. Maybe next time. As you can guess I loved traveling. My father was born in Puerto Rico so that was my first trip and then I lived in Spain and danced Latin American dances. When I was 50, I went to Japan and taught English. And I taught in Hawaii as well. I’ve been here for 40 years . when I was younger, I read mostly nonfiction. I wanted to learn things and learn how to travel without much money. There wasn’t the Internet then. But I also discovered Jane Austen and other classics. Since I’ve been on book tube, I’ve expanded my reading, but I have always been a voracious reader like my mother before me. Sorry for the long comment I make longer comments on other peoples channels than my own videos sometimes.😀. nice to meet you. Maybe one day our paths will meet across two oceans. Ciao and aloha.

@@MarilynMayaMendoza I love long comments 🥰 So here's mine: Siena is quite beautiful, like many other small towns around Tuscany. The hills are also most spectacular. I also love the Amalfi coast a lot, quite far from me, but have fond memories of the coastal scenes of Positano and Ravello. I personally lived in California for 15 years, and have been in Hawaii during that time, only once though, in Kawaii, so beautiful and peaceful. No, not so unusual to eat pasta everyday in Italy, mostly man with physically demanding jobs would expect that type of meal on the table every day (and a second serving or a second dish afterwards 😉) In my house, we have it twice a week, and usually prefer the whole wheat or even gluten free types, and I find pasta made with red lentil flour quite delicious (with lots of healthy fibers and proteins!). I always read in my life but it was during the recent pandemic that I got addicted to books, it was my escape during the forced shut down. Luckily, it was an addiction that didn't worn out 😉 Well, wouldn't it be so cool and adventurous to meet each other in Paris? Fingers crossed, I may be stopping by the Ville Lumiere on my way to California later in October... Ciao, Aloha and Au Revoir 😉
