Sir i think you made a mistake when calculating the cross product in the last part, you crossed a vector from Q5 (a) with a vector from Q5 (c), in-case there's someone out there struggling to get the same answer as you, otherwise the principle is very clear✌

Shouldn't the sum of the forces be the centripetal force(=the tension) minus the mg because weight acts in the negative y axis?

What is the formula for finding My, you just wrote for finding Mx
@EngMTc-r8m
@EngMTc-r8m 2 ай бұрын
the density is constant and the area is mostly in the 4th quardrant ,why is Mx positive sir?
@TutorJeff
@TutorJeff 2 ай бұрын
Hi. You have a point there. Most of the area is in the fourth quadrant, meaning that we expect the y coordunate of the center of mass (and My) to be negative. The negative y can be obtained if we take the limits to change from a to b and not b to a which was used in the calculation. Everything else would remain the same.

Sir first of all ....thank you very much for your videos they're really helpful....but I have a question,,,, when picking vertical forces ,why don't we include W1 and W3 as downward forces??
@TutorJeff
@TutorJeff 2 ай бұрын
Hi. Those forces are expressed in terms of the tension they create in the strings.
@randomselector8479
@randomselector8479 2 ай бұрын
@@TutorJeff Thanks very much sir...n so I don't have to be including them ?
@TutorJeff
@TutorJeff 2 ай бұрын
@randomselector8479 You don't have to, the implication being that they are already represented through the tensions. W1 sets up T1, W3 sets up T2 and W2 sets up the very downward force on the middle.
