I’ve been listening to Hoba since I was 14, and now at 30, I realize that most, if not all, of my friends are also Hoba fans. It’s hard to explain, but somehow, anyone I got along with growing up turned out to have a good ear for their music. It’s tough to find people who like and admire Hoba, especially here in the north (Tangier). Earlier this afternoon, I was making plans with a friend who’s leaving the country soon. With him deciding to pursue his life abroad, that makes it 6 out of the 7 friends I grew up with who have ended up leaving for better opportunities on the other side. As I thought about this, I remembered a verse from Supercaid when Reda says: Voyez-vous tous mes amis rêvent de quitter le pays Et pour qu'ils restent ici Il faut juste un tout petit effort de votre part Monsieur le super caïd Que vous soyez moins flemmard et peut-être même moins avide. I followed my train of thought and stopped here in this comment section after listening to L'bhar, remembering all the brothers that left, shedding some tears, and writing this comment, knowing that many of you can relate.
