Thanks for all of the time and effort you are putting into these videos, these Korrys are so much beter than the ones I bagan to develop - using the switches that you have, makes all the difference - mostly I see the use 8x8 tactile switches, which I found to be difficult to mount and not a paticularly realistic feel. One small mod. I made, was to form 1mm fillets to a height of 4mm from the inside bottom face of the button, in each corner, to give the circuit board somthing to sit on, rather than being pressed down on the solder and wires - keeps everything level and better seated. Looking forward to the BIG panel video

Great video´s! Would be nice to get a glimpse of your plans for the cockpit. How do you want to it to look like when ready? in what order do you prioritize the panels you're making? How do you plan to mount the panel in pedestal, overhead etc.?

Currently I'm focusing on finishing the templates we're using to create the panels. Three more videos are about to come to this topic. Then I will create some panels of the overhead panel. When I candetermine how large the overhead panel will be I will create a frame to mount the panels to. (3D printed parts and aluminum tubes) Then the frequently used parts from the pedestal will follow. The pedestal itself will be a wooden frame. Best regards, Tom

I understand how the upper ring of the Korry housing holds the halo ring against the upper panel but I don’t understand what the second ring does? I suspect all will become clear when I see part 2 😊
@TheCockpitPrinter
@TheCockpitPrinter Ай бұрын
The lower ring is pushing against the bottom part of the panel. The Korry is "sandwiched" between the two panel shells without the need of screws or glue. Be patient my friend. It will make sense very soon!

@ that is a really good point and makes a lot of sense. But with a flat surface an the bottom of the ring you have to add some support structures during printing. The chamfer doesn’t make a difference in the functionality but saves the support structure. The lower ring will completely be hidden by the bottom panel to create enough space for the LED strips.

Hi I wanted to ask what 3d printer should I get in order to start printing my home cockpit as well, specifically I wanna know if any 3d printer is valid or if I need a specific one. By the way good video, I follow the series even though I don't comment but I just wanted to say to keep up the work, can't wait for the pfd and the ecam display, I'm scratching my head to understand what kind of display I need and how to display the pfd and the ecams on the dispaly.
@TheCockpitPrinter
@TheCockpitPrinter Ай бұрын
Thank you very much! I'm happy to have you on board and my videos are usefull to you! You don't need a specific kind of printer to print your cockpit. I only use PLA which is very easy to print an doesn't require an eclosure. Even on entry level printers it should succeed. But if you want to get the highest level of detail with the labels on the panels you definitly need a multicolor printer. I always recommend the Bambulab printers. Even the A1 creates a great level of detail. (I don't get money from bambulab) In addition to that the software provided by bambulab is exceptional. You don't have to care about all the parameters and need dozends of failed prints until you have your first successfully printed part. For the displays my plan is to use cheap tablets an connect them with spacedesk via wifi. The PFD and ECAM can be created as a pop out window by pressing altgr and click into the screen you want to pop out. This is by far the easiest way to my knowledge.

@@TheCockpitPrinter Another idea I have in mind is that the "islands" of the letters are tiny and are only attached to the transparent layer - I don't know whether this will hold in the long term. Perhaps a transparent layer of 0.2 mm could also be placed on the back of the top panel so that the "islands" are enclosed at the top and bottom, like a sandwich.

I need to leave another comment here. So far I followed through on designing and 3D printing. However, although I have a pretty decent soldering iron since years, I never really touched it. But this series motivated me to finally give it a try. Still had an Arduino Mega from another project I never finished lying around so I used that and wired everything up - and wow, it is working. When I first so the assembly video I was very doubtful as in "let's see if I can build this - I probably make some dumb mistakes and nothing is working". But hey, I gave it a try and it works like a charm. The way you explain it makes it really easy to understand (I do not come from an engineering or technical background) and I am super proud that it worked out. For the next hour or so I am going to only turn on / turn off Beacon and Strobe 😁 THANK YOU so much for your great videos and the inspirationa and that you make it seem not complicated at all.
