Your video was very scenic but I had to turn your voice up several times and I had to turn the music down. Maybe you could adjust that in your next presentation. The music is “Way too loud.” Thank You ahead of time.

I was today years old when learning there was any kind of primate living in the wild in America. Or just plain N. America. I'm not sure how i feel Arnott that.

I was putting together an indie KZbin documentary about the history of the Silver River and springs monkeys and I was wondering if you would be okay with me using some of your footage? With proper crediting of course such a mention in the credits/description and a name tag on the footsge. You have some simply wonderful shots.

Um, not Seminole war, it was the Seminole Native American genocide. Around 500 of them survived by hiding in the Everglade swamps. Many still live on a Reservation there.

Those rats need eradicating they have no business being here
@christinelarocco23303 жыл бұрын
Those monkeys do NOT belong here in our environment. That is a serious problem. They are nicknamed "tree rats" in asian countries for good reason. You all better start paying a little more attention. Our natural environment down there is fragile. They need to f'ing go. AND FAST.
@theswashbuckjournal39243 жыл бұрын
Hey Christine, thanks for watching and for bringing that up. The macaques aren’t indigenous and over the decades different proposals have been brought up to remove them. There used to be a couple more populations in Florida but the troop at silver springs is the only remaining wild population. A 2016 study from Biological Invasions placed 100 artificial birds nests through silver springs and found that 21 of them were predated by the macaques. Of course the macaques are also carriers of herpes B and an estimated 10% of the troop shed it in their saliva during fall breeding season which can be lethal to humans if they get bit and don’t receive medical intervention, so people are told to respect their distance (as they should with any other wildlife). When we researched the environmental challenges to Silver Springs by far the biggest impact has been from reduced water flow and poor water quality in the river due to tapping into the water reservoirs and Nitrogen pollution from fertilizer runoff in surrounding agriculture land.

@@theswashbuckjournal3924 Yeah, I grew up in rural Orange County near Orlando so I used to stomp around all the springs, rivers, and beaches in that area. Most of those places are unrecognizable to me today and I have no desire to go there. Hell, we used to be able to actually camp on New Smyrna beach, no tolls, no entry fees--miss those days. Some of the least know springs are feeding the Suwannee River, over 300. If you ever get up around Peacock Springs, check out Drew bridge. Looking forward to your next video!
