Great video from 3 years ago. I bought a 2002 Honda Passport in very good shape, only 119k miles, everything like new. Knowing is is the same car as Izuzu Rodeo, I will use your videos to do some basic maintenance like the timing belt, because there is not any sticker or note that say it was done recently . I know it should not be as easy as I see in the video but just following them will be a big plus. Thank you very much.

I am replacing the cam plugs but the new cam plugs I got don't have a o-ring down the middle. They are just smooth. To insure it doesn't leak, should I add RTV to make up for the lack of o-ring?

Went to all that trouble of rebuilding it and you went with a Fram oil filter..... those are literally garbage oil filters they have done test on oil filters if you want a great cheap oil filter use a wix oil filter..
@r1beef885 ай бұрын
I agree. I’ve watched some engine masters and they’ve shown six is decent filter. Unfortunately sometimes your limited to what’s available or in stock. 🤷♂️
@beboboymann38232 ай бұрын
@@shark_zombie I drove a Chrysler Concorde 256,000 before selling it to a young couple fir $2,000 and they drove it another 35,000 until the internal water pump sprang a leak and dumped coolant into the engine. At 225,000 I pulled the intake and rocker covers to replace gaskets that were starting to leak and the undersides of the valve covers and underneath the surface of the intake manifold were spotless……what do I mean by spotless? The yellow paint initials of the QC inspector were clearly visible and no sludge or deposits to be seen. A quick wipe down and all parts were as new. Now why do I provide you with this information? It’s because that engine ran flawlessly for 291,000 miles on Mobil 1 5W-30 and nothing but Fram filters off the Walmart shelf……that’s it! So somewhere in those almost 300,00 miles of various types of driving if Fram filters were the garbage you so vehemently declare that engine would have burned a lot of oil. It burned a half quart between changes at the point I sold it and I pushed it hard. So you don’t know squat. Besides…..Fram was always in stock on the shelf when I needed it keeping me from running around town trying to find an oil filter. I’ll stand by Fram. Sorry if you listened to the people selling their brands.

Did you rtv/permatex any of the corners when installing the valve covers?
@r1beef885 ай бұрын
Yes I did. It was recommended to use a dash on the edges of the valve cover plugs. Just a little on the 9 and 3 o’clock edges will do you. Do not put on too much. It will pop the plugs out if you use too much. I believe it was the GREY permatex tube. 👍

How did you time it without taking the top of the motor off?
@r1beef886 ай бұрын
In order to tine the engine you must remove the stuff on the front of the motor, not the top. Radiator should come out, belt off, idler pulley off, and you need to remove the timing covers and expose the timing belt. And then remove that to totally reset the timing. You’ll have to pull off the tensioner and then follow the timing steps and clocking procedure. It can all be totally removed, timed, then reassembled in a day once you have done it a time or two. Make sure you can remove the crank pulley, before going too far. The parts are simple and everything is straight forward just takes time.

Im currently about to replace the cam plugs and cam seals, what would you say is not neccesary in these vids to do and anything i should do? Thanks in advance!
@r1beef886 ай бұрын
If your just doing the seals and plugs then you only need expose the cams. It’s been a while but, you need to get the coil over plugs off, any brackets on the valve covers. I think you’ll need to remove the brake booster, it’s easier to access the bolts and remove the drivers valve cover. Focus on the necessities, The covers can be removed with little else removed off engine. And easily access the cams. Don’t over goop the edges when reinstalling the valve covers. It will cause the new plugs to pop out. Only use enough to do job on edges specified. Less is more 👍.

Do you know any information about the 2003 Isuzu Faster B C22NE engine? Can I install this 6VD1 engine on it?
@r1beef888 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I have no information about that engine or vehicle. If you want to swap engines and use the c22ne transmission I doubt this would be possible as that is a straight 4 vs V6. But if you had a 6VD1 and matching transmission, then anything is ‘possible’.

Hi where is located the crankshaft sensor for a Isuzu rodeo 1991 engine 3.1 We can’t find it 😭
@r1beef888 ай бұрын
Well on the 3.2 engine it is located right behind the passenger motor mount. It takes its reading off a wheel attached to the crank shaft located on the center of the crank shaft. I am unsure if it is exactly the same on the 91 3.1l motor but I would start there. It’s a accessible 1 bolt fix 👍.

@r1beef886 ай бұрын
I agree I was little shocked the impact didn’t tear those off. But even my corded 360ft impact couldn’t do it. I basically jumped on the breaker bar to get that last nut. Been using those impacts for 4 years now and they don’t tend to come across bolts they can’t break. The batteries are getting old now and the drill kills batteries on standby now. But the impact does no such thing!!

you want cylinder 1 at the top and as cylinder 1 comes up air should push out the spark plug hole (compression stroke), you also want to make sure your cam lobes are not pushing the valves, meaning they are closed

Buenas noches, mi nombre es Tobías y soy de la Patagonia Argentina 🇦🇷. Voy a escribirte en inglés para que no tengas que usar el traductor si no entendés mi idioma. As a family we have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo with the 3.2 V6 and automatic transmission, it is a full LSE version. I discovered your channel in one of your videos with this engine disassembled, did it break because the timing belt was cut? I had read that they were non-interference motors or that they would not be damaged if the belt was cut. Our Rodeo is used very little, it is not difficult to get spare parts from the US since we do not have free imports in Argentina and with the previous left-wing government, we were very bad, very restricted in this aspect. I read another comment that once you finished fixing it you sold it, why? Didn't your arrangement turn out well? It's a wonderful truck! I replaced the intake body gasket, as a precaution, I also changed the thermostat, the original Isuzu worked perfectly, but I read that they recommended in the forums to do the work, since what if one took it. work to change these intake gaskets, the odna jacef was worth this too, because the thermostat is inaccessible, I bought a Japanese Gates brand, then I changed the gasoline regulator that was damaged, the original was Delphi and I got the same one. I made all the purchases through Tiendamia and they sent me the spare parts directly to Patagonia 🇦🇷, but I couldn't buy anything anymore because of the previous government that didn't lock down like Cuba. Thank God I didn't need any other spare parts, anyway, at some point I should change the fuel pump, so that the system works with more pressure, since sometimes when hot it is difficult to start. I send you a hug and success! Happy New Year 2024! and may God bless you 🙏

I am unfamiliar with the engine in the 91 unfortunately.
@MrPheonix19967 ай бұрын
Don't know if you're still working on this but a 91 would be a sohc to my knowledge, thus no clocking necessary. However it's worth checking the rocker shafts and valves if you got it apart, I'm overhauling my heads right now and got major wear for only 113k

I have a 98 rodeo 3.2 that goes through oil like crazy. 1q every 300 or so miles. My compression tests shows 180 on each cyl. Do you think it could be the valve stem seals?
@r1beef8811 ай бұрын
Yes I been there. I even noticed straight up oil dripping out of the tail pipe it got so saturated leaking out. If you have no visible leaks, by the valve covers or oil pan. Rear seal is good, no oil in the bell housing. Valve stem seals would be where I would start inspecting. If it’s cycling oil through like fuel then that’s probably what’s up. Check for raw oil in the tailpipe.

Primary use is to help clean inside of engine and passage ways. Long term to prevent build up and any related problems from occuring. After the fact possibly could help some but better to use more often. I saw recommendations to run in engine for 100 miles. Then drain and fill with clean engine. I saw a video where race car driver- who rebuilds his our engines after x amount of races put " Royal Purple" engine oil in his engine. Was surprised how engine was completely clean when he tore it down the next time. So maybe on new car every four change use more expensive oil to clean out engine. Rislone regular probably will help also. But would like to see an engine tear down pics before and after to really see how much better. Thank you for sharing.

My 01' Isuzu Rodeo with the 3.2 V6 sounds like that, I ordered the Gates timing belt kit with the water pump. Hopefully it's the timing belt tensioner and not a rod bearing issue.
