Coral is calcium carbonate, like limestone, marble, pearl, aragonite, etc. The 'fizzing' from vinegar is a chemical reaction. This is a destructive test and should b done w caution. A polymer coating will block that reaction.
@LegacyJewelryAppraisersАй бұрын
Your absolutely right, Tango, thanks for your response. The vinegar reaction to the coral acts quickly and discoloration can follow if not careful. 👏

Interesting. Yet, are there gemologist that can authenticate red coral. I have pieces that I have never found anyone to authenticate them. Thanks

how much is to be appraise
@LegacyJewelryAppraisersАй бұрын
Hi, Martinez family. My insurance appraisal is typically $125 each. I have other opportunities, such as cataloging, which lists many items that can be used for Trust Distribution. Also, hourly rates for verbal and written applications depend on your circumstances. Please send me an email inquiry so I can assist you further. legacyjewelryoc.com/pages/contact-us

Not exactly. Jadeite comes in an array of different colors…all shades of green, yellow, brown, pink, lavender, blue, white, black, red, icy clear, and it can be opaque to highly translucent. Nephrite can come in dark or spinach green, white, or light browns. It’s almost always opaque. Both minerals are dense and can feel cold to the touch. Jadeite is also slightly harder than nephrite.
