Thank you for this. I too went overboard washing my face four times a day and wearing masks for too long and when I got all kinds of red blotches I assumed I needed to add retinol :( It took a year to finally realize that my barrier was obliterated. I didn't even know what the barrier was before that. I've been locked away with anxiety over my discolored skin all summer, and you give me hope that it will improve when my barrier heals (one week into restoring my barrier now). Thanks so much!

I got the same problem and struggling wtih my face and the fact that the doctor said I have mask-induced Rosacea. I suspect my cotton masks were very dirty from lipstick, etc. Had clear, flawless skin till the pandemic. :( I put the same stuff as you and it just got redder and looked like it was spreading. Not doing laser because it just may make it worse-those are veins related to your arteries.

Wait so you blame the doctors because when they ask you have you been doing anything differently yet you said no and you admit later in the video you were taking three showers a day and not moisturizing and also trying all these silly medications over the counter. They can only go by what they see, you blame the doctors you blame people who recommended acne treatment yet you take no responsibility that you did this yourself. This sounded like a rage update, blame the doctors because you didn't tell the truth. Remember like HOUSE says all patients lie! But overall I'm happy for you that it cleared up but majority of the people do have skin issues and don't create their own.

tell me why a doctor can't tell the difference between dry skin and rosacea... why is a doctor giving me DRYING acne medication when i need to moisturize? a doctor should have been able to say "well, you may not be doing anything different, but your skin is certainly drying up a lot... could be due to something in your water, or even just ages / hormones, etc... try moisturizing" instead of "here, acne meds, rosacea meds, steroids, drugs, big pharma!!!" at this point a freaking tiktok influencer can spot a damaged moisture barrier better than a doctor can. the very FIRST sign was little bumps of irritation. why did a doctor treat it like acne, and not irritation? why did a doctor dry it out more? why was a doctor adding more irritants to red and dry skin, rather than soothing it? no doctor EVER asked me "how often do you wash your face?" "what do you wash your face with?" "whats your skin scare routine?" and if they DID ask those questions first- we could have avoided a whole lot of anxiety and worsening of symptoms. it was my fault up to a point- the doctors made it worse and were scratching their heads wondering why it was getting worse and never thought to try something else.

@@VictoriaVitriol Because you have passed the dry skin part and you are very went to the damage and they both look exactly alike. Oh believe me I agree there are many doctors who just would just give you the generic stuff and in 6 weeks come back or 8 weeks. I'm just saying your response is blaming the doctors when you clearly stated when they ask you if you've been doing anything different or anything like that you didn't mention the three showers daily being in a cold area because of the chocolate place you worked at. Then using Gym soap on your face I mean I think that should have been told to the doctor. That's what they mean by changes they usually mean diet and stuff you been doing in your life sometimes it's stress sometimes it may be a death in the family or something that is traumatic or dramatic. Like you said it didn't get like that overnight you don't break your skin barrier overnight it takes a long time. I mean to do the damage that you did. You may not understand acne, since you never had it you can have severely dry skin and still have acne. Oily skin does not mean acne. You can have clogged pores be oily underneath even being super dry on top. I mean I don't know how often you were seeing these doctors.. I don't know if you were rotating doctors if you didn't get results and such many people do that. Any medication be it benzoyl peroxide Retin-A and many others will dry out the skin. Now many doctors are dumb and they give 10% benzoyl peroxide when 2.5% is just as effective except 10% is much more irritation. I think when you tried soolantra and I believe azelaic acid.. and I'm pretty sure they would give you an oral antibiotic like doxycycline which is for rosacea it's none of that work especially the doxycycline which is only 40 mg. That should have said this is not rosacea.. because between that Metro gel whatever they give.. you going to get some relief if you have true rosacea. Let's thank God you don't have rosacea because that's a lifetime commitment and it can flare it up at anytime. It sucks that you had to go through that but you played a big part in it realizing if you put this stuff on your face and it burned so bad that you could even use it that should have been a warning sign. You called the doctor right away and say I can't even put this on it burns like hell. Sometimes you have to be a nuisance patient because a lot of them will just say oh it takes time to adjust and I'm sure you heard some of that crap. I don't mean anything against you I'm just saying that many people don't give the doctor everything the doctor needs to understand the situation. Possibly to start this all out if you would have told them about three showers a day using basic cheap soap on your face and then also being in a very cold area then on top of that you're very athletic and you're not only taking dance classes you're also teaching so tons of sweat. Maybe with that information a doctor just would have given you a gentle face wash and a gentle moisturizer and honestly in less than a few weeks you would have been much better. Granted they prescribed it, the only thing I can say is that it did look like rosacea to them if you go to 5 dermatologist and the all say rosacea..that's a pretty good consensus. Not saying you went to five I don't know if you went to more than that but not one didn't say it wasn't rosacea. And I think what you have done coming back and telling people what it was I believe you may be helping many people there are a lot of people who might be doing the same thing you were doing. You were just living life you didn't have any skin problems until all that manifested. It always shows in life less is more. Believe me I'm sure you've seen people who apply too much Retin-A and they learned their lesson pretty quickly in fact that's the number one thing people put on too much when they are told just a pea sized amount for your whole face. And then in about 10 days or 2 weeks they look like they were in an inferno. But retinoids are amazing, you just need a doctor and you just need the patient to comply. People think of retinol the garbage you get from the store of course you're not going to have much reactions because guess what you're not getting any results. This makes benzoyl peroxide and other medications seem so weak it's even used for rosacea because it builds up your collagen it literally thickens your collagen underneath so the redness is not as apparent. And it does wonders for aging, most people start using it in their mid-to-late twenties to prevent aging or at least minimize as much as they can. It's a 2-in-1 solution because if you have acne it's the best thing two birds with one stone. You also have to realize there's another type of acne called fungal acne. Anyways I'm just so happy that you actually fixed your skin and it's getting better and better and it looks pretty much flawless.

I definitely have rosacea. My skin barrier was damaged and all ‘gentle, sensitive, hypoallergenic’ moisturizers made it SO much worse. I kept trying to repair it and my face reacted horribly to the most gentle products, even water would burn my skin. Azeleic acid helped, sort of but barely when it was at it’s worst. After 1,5 years of a damaged skin barrier- that only ‘improved’ when I put no products on my face and didn’t wash it, it’s only the ‘rosacea products’ that helped. Or well, in particular metronidazole and hypochlorous acid. Slowly my skin barrier is healing, because the underlying cause is being dealt with.

I have a thought that toxic sunscreen overtime damage the skin that seams to be a big thing. And some people are extra sensitive with age, the body doesnt heal that easily. I think skin moisture barrier is the core issue in most cases. In my case i damaged my skin due to all the welding i was doing i didnt guard myself and my helmet let the dangerous light thru but just belove my eyes. Some parts by my ear it heald in time. But other parts started the become worse. But With right moisture and food and right vitamins i think it will heal with time.

I started having problems with my skin when there was a COVID pandemic and I needed to wear mask at work for 10 hours 4 days a week, after 6 months I started to have red spots on my cheeks and over 3 years they have spread all over my face ... It's like something happened in the mask that caused my skin to damage . And at that time I got pregnant also and I was afraid of using products that could cause harm to baby and after birth I just gave up on myself . Too tired and too stressed to search for help . And now I'm trying to focus on my skin to rebuild it . Hope it will get better in time . I have a plan and I can already seee results in my skin . It stopped being itchy

Rosacea is just a catch-all term for people who have a red face.. there are multiple reasons why it starts.. eroding the moisture barrier is one of them. after a while some people are lucky to find a way to manage it… and it seems to “go away”. everyone’s “way” of tending their rosacea is different. I have rosacea but you’d never know as I have no redness unless I have a flare up, which happens once every couple of years. I too can eat spicy food etc… I keep it at bay with assiduous skin care… just like you.

I was told 20+ years ago that I had rosacea. I wasn't forwarded to a dermatologist. I was told to go tothe drug store and get a good moisturizer. I started with Avene and tried other brands but they just burned. I figured I couldn't handle the comogenics. Make up burned my skin so I had to stop wearing foundation. I did oils etc. Which helped. Fast forward to covid and masks. I got a job in a kitchen. My niece discovered Cerave. During the winter my face broke out with painful cysts and postules. I assumed it was comogenic for my skin so stopped using it. 2 years later I was still in the same situation. People were asking what was wrong. Masks were no longer required but I still had issues. My skin burned and hurt all the time. I was a youtube about slugging and I tried that with Vaseline. After 1/2 an hour my face didn't hurt!! After googling I discovered Eucerin products. Still can't use their cleanser but use their moisturizers and Aquafor to slug. My skin has improved through the winter rather than getting worse. 3 strps forward 2 step1s back. It's been slow but improving. I just saw your video's about vitamins and realize I used to take vitamin B so I'm adding that back in and hopefully that will get over the finish line.

Nurse, running...teaching dance/gym, then doing my lawn and yard maintenance, etc. I'm with you ..never needed a "skin routine." You are right though, it builds up and accumulates. For me, it was fungal, and mites. Ivermectin is wonderful too :) Castor oil is a great moisturizer. I didn't know either, I was on so many antibiotics for what I learned of my sinusisit was MOLD!!!! GRRRRRRR.....and so it ruined the gut microbiome. Very good video though. Remember, our water is also very toxic..it's not the 02, it's the fluoride, the arsenic, etc. Very harsh water (with meds of all sorts, metals, etc..just to add a tidbit. "Had to" meaning fired if not and the masks we got were pointless since we are treating his for months and none of got sick until we put the mask on and those of us who had mold toxicity, everything got worse because of it - trapped, multiplied, and it decreases oxygen, increases cortisol, decreases immune function, increased bacteria. I'm sorry you felt like you had to wear something that was not healthy for you or others. :( I love your dimples by the way.So cute. Make sure you take care! I have had a lot of dancer patients (I taught zumba, I need everything to be on the beat, very rhythmic so I couldn't get into ballet or that kind of dance but it's soooo pretty to watch! I'm a musician who turned it down to serve in healthcare), have eating disorders and nutrient deficiencies :( Amazing how people comment and say "just do this" or "just do that." I had that when I died from mold toxicity and I got "are you praying enough?" "Did you try green tea?" I'm like, "COME OVER AND HELP ME CLEAN THIS TOXIC MOLD MAYBE? WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? :)" Glad you're better :) Smooth and lovely!

Damn it's an old video so I wish you will see this... I'm confused cause I feel like a lot of what you are saying is relatable for my case.. but actually that I did not know anything about rosacea and actually no one told me this is what I have until recently.. I had great skin, and did not take care of it cause it was perfect.. and after a specific stress I started to have horrible bumps on my face which I thought was acne. So I treated it like acne, and like you said, it is not helping.. and even before, I used to have dryness in my eyelids, but I didn't connect between the two.. So actually a cosmetician I went to told me it's a skin barrier problem, but anything she did, well it did not help me, and I gave her like half a year but did not see any change.. And then I tryed a different cosmetician which told me she thinks its resecea and I should see a doctor. SO I went to a doctor, and he actually didnot say he knows exactly what I have, but anyway, prescripted me Doxycyclin, and it was magic for the horrible bumps!! But the redness is still there even though I'm trying to mosterise.. So I'm not sure, do I have rosacea, or is it the skin barrier, or is it both? I'm worried I'll treat it wrong 😢

I know this video is 4 years old now but I wanna let you know this video put an end to my chronic pain and inflammation in my face. The issues and causes you described in your skin diaries were very similar to mine. For the past 8 years my face has been in constant daily burning pain. The acne got better over the years as I moved to doing less and less to it, but it would still burn bright red, swell and be constantly oily and scaley at the same time and itch like mad. I've been using the Cerave moisturizer that helped your skin since the summer of 2023, and I look like an entirely different person now. Turns out I did inherit my mother's cheekbones! I never knew. Thanks to the inflammation being gone, I now actually know the shapes in my face, it's insane. I use to put towels on mirrors or use them exclusively with the lights off. Only thing I do now is put room temp or cold water on my face, dripping wet, and then rub the moisturizer in. That's it. No rosacea creams, no expensive prescriptions, just a (conveniently giant) tub of Cerave and water. My skin isn't 100%, but I actually know what I look like now, can trust my face will be ok just to go OUTSIDE and not be agonizing, and there's finally direction in what I need to heal it and it's only gonna get better. So thank you.

😂 Hello Vistoria. Greetings to all!! I want to confess here that I lead a life of sin… I have several dermatologists. They all think they are the only one. I let each one say what they want, I put on an obedient face and think: “Aha…”. One prescribes antibiotics for three months and ivermicide for 6 for ROSACEA. The other recommends neutral soaps and a calceblablabla inhibitor cream for my ATOPIC SKIN. The third says that it is staphylococcus and “has me” with a perinasal ointment. INFECTION. The fourth said it was contact dermatitis and prescribed ten days of topical corticosteroid for a small lesion under the nose. BURN. The fifth, he said it was irritating and gave me an epidemic test. ALLERGY. From time to time I return to each dr/a to reaffirm it. I've been like this since June. Not even a blood test. Not a scrape. Not even a biopsy… This discipline is like in the Middle Ages. High technology, biometrics, quantum and super electronics have not passed through this union. They look at you from two meters away (like the plague doctor) and that's it. It's not understood! One told me that it was perioral because I had pimples already going down my chin when those were marks of pimples that I had been picking at all spring and that had left me scars. Another of these told me that it was spreading across my upper eyelids due to the little red dot that I had left myself with a pinch of the tweezers while plucking my eyebrows. If you have time, desire and money, take the test. When five professionals of the same science say different things, I stop calling it science. And period. Do you know what I achieved with my little experiment? Knowing that it cannot be fixed from the outside, that it is better not to add fuel to the fire and, above all, it has allowed me to stop feeling guilty about what happens in the future with my rosacea-atopic-infection-burn-staphylococcus-allergy. The truth is that the self-esteem of many professionals is based on the lack of feedback they receive. These 5 people will never know that they are (all😂😂!!) out of touch. The thing about “asking for a second opinion” has gotten out of hand… The good thing is that this way, every day I have what I want. Like the adulterer!

He said that he was not 100% sure about it being rosacae and said that if I am happy with my skin,I can stop Soolantra and see what happens. Wow I am so happy you shared this. I was being told since 2016 that I had rosacea but it doesn't seem right. Eventually after turning down everything the derms wanted me to take, I saw a woman for a facial. I explained how it's like red and painful. She said I think you damaged you skin moisture barrier. She asked if I exfoliated too much. I said no I have been using shiseido. Then I realized it has an exfoliation in it! I used it once to twice a day. I changed to a Emenence oil cleanser and it slowly regained moisture and I finally started wearing makeup without my skin peeling. I still have a red spot on the tip of my nose on occasion which usually shows during allergy season. Also a quarter size spot on my forehead seems to break out with what looks like pimples but nothing in the bump. It comes and goes I believe with hormone fluctuations. Either way I am so happy your skin is happy. I will focus more on moisturizing as I may not be doing enough. Thank you again!!!

Yes you are correct! Damaged skin barrier plus wearing a mask.

Hello Victoria. I hope you are doing well. I am suffering from demodex now. I am applying tea tree oil mixing it with coconut oil on my face. I see improvements on my face and the acnes on face are gone but the acne marks are still here. What do you think should I continue applying tea tree oil until the demodex mites are killed because I have doubts that they are still on my face. I am also using metronidazole gel.

I bought some of the cicapair products and I had the same reaction, I wish I had seen your video earlier

Thank you for your videos. I started flushing 18 years ago when I was a teen and went in to the derm. They gave me benzoyl peroxide! I got worse, so I went back in, and it's been downhill since. I no longer go to derms because they never helped. I think my main issue now is the destroyed skin moisture barrier, and I'll try to work on that.

@@BoyPaoLosKiE Thanks for asking! My skin has it’s ups and downs. I realize diet has a major effect on my skin (and not just with junk food, even stuff like spinach can make me flush a lot). But skin looks better when I use simple wash and lotion (like Cerave) and giving my skin a break from makeup as much as possible. 😊
