Hang in there through the challenges dude (some of which we have probably shared in my long ago history), you have truly got a gift to give to the world in your heart's song💚

Hey Sean... I'm a decrepit old boomer, songwriter, music-obsessive guy that likes to think he has heard everything. I hate google and refuse to "sign in" to any of their shit but in your case I had to make an exception. Eleanor Batshit and More Than Lore V2 are as good as anything Nick Drake ever did, while being nothing at all like Nick Drake. I only use that comparison because I can see you are capable of doing shit every bit as transcendent as ND's Pink Moon record, and in the same minimalist way. You have the songwriting ability and the charisma to do it...and you have your own thing, like nobody else. Don't EVER let anybody tell you anything different. I know a little about the scene you come from and I want to beg you to PLEASE...Get as many songs together as you can and find some person with a decent home set up and some good mics,..get your shit together and put down 15-20 songs just like you do on your iPhone. If the performances are anywhere near what you did on the two songs I mentioned ( I'm also knocked out by your performance of that "White Noise" tune) you will have created something that (if we make it) people will be listening to 100 years from now. You are different, you have something that very few people have. Of course there will be those that don't give a shit and even those that actively dislike it, but those that DO get it ...Will REALLY get it. You must believe this. It may take years. But people will find someone like you. Okay, I know I'm just some random old fuck on the internet and maybe you don't give a shit. But the world desperately needs people who can do what you do. AI will NEVER be able to do what you can, lol...and I hope you are able to find some kind of peace in this world that keeps you around for a while. Prayers, love, and all that...

My friend, thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Finally have a phone w/ internet access again, hopefully the bastards who have been trying to keep me down, discouraged & isolated won't manage to steal this one before I can post anything. I needed to hear this. I just had yet another guitar broken (kicked by some drunk fuck), so due to the lack of any instrument to play as well as countless other shades of bullshit I won't get into here, I've been somewhat disillusioned in regards to my music. When I do have a guitar or something to play though, I've been sounding better than ever. I just have to keep surviving and find some way out of this stagnant situation I've been mired in for the last decade or more. Nick Drake was one of my most cherished influences while I was growing up, teaching myself to sing and play guitar. My father had a copy of 'Fruit Tree', his collected works on vinyl. I was blown away when I discovered him, so being compared to Nick Drake is possibly the highest compliment you could give me. Thank You, decrepit old fuck. I need all the encouragement I can get right now. If I can get my shit together, get off the street, get a guitar and not have it stolen or smashed by agents provocateurs or just your average lowlifes, I promise I have many songs to sing for you. Good things are on the way! I hope... But first I gotta get rid of these body lice and escape from this hellhole!!

Hey Sean, thanks for responding to me and please know that I meant every word I said. I have since found your SoundCloud page and that has only further confirmed my opinion of your talent. The lo-fi manner in which you recorded these does nothing to diminish the depth of what you are able to do. The density of songs like Black Dam, Ghost Sighs, Keys Go Down The Snowbank, Tame Fly, and Twisted Gyves is remarkable. There is an intensity and stream-of-conscience quality to these that I find compelling and extremely rare. This, incredibly, is matched by your equally intense and inventive guitar playing and your amazing singing that often combines the plaintive, timeless quality of Woody Guthrie or Hank Williams with the pissed-off passion of Joe Strummer or d. boon…often in the same song! Not to mention the intuitively sophisticated arranging and song construction skills that are right there with Love’s Arthur Lee and, yes, Nick Drake IMO. There are VERY few people capable of this. And frankly, even if you didn’t possess songwriting skills your performing style is such that I would listen to the shit out of you performing the Barry Manilow song book, lol… My only purpose in reaching out is to try and convince you that what you can do is rare and special and it is worth whatever it takes for you to get off the street and put yourself in the position to develop and share your considerable gifts for as long as you are around. YOU ARE WORTH IT! You are a unique and a special talent. I have no idea what your dependency and mental health challenges are. Obviously they are considerable since most of the songs I’m referencing are 10 years old or more and it appears most of your energy during that period has been put toward merely surviving. This breaks my fucking heart. The thing is, unlike many of your contemporaries, you have survived. You have chosen to live. This gives me hope for you. And despite what you have/are going through, your most recent post of Lose The Baby shows that your skills are undiminished. I will close with a personal anecdote. There is another singer/songwriter that you remind me of in some ways…if you haven’t heard him you should seek him out. His name was Vic Chesnutt. Like you he was a brilliant, unbelievably gifted singer/songwriter. I was lucky enough to meet him when he was just starting out and watched him develop from an eccentric, brilliant-but-inconsistent local dude into one of the greatest singer/songwriters to ever live in my opinion. Had he been around in the 60’s I’m convinced he would have been placed right up there with Dylan and Leonard Cohen. As it happened he had a relatively modest but historically consequential career and made some fucking BRILLIANT records (All are worth your time but I find West Of Rome to be damn near perfect) but here is the thing…He hung himself on Christmas Day 2009. You see, Vic had been battling suicidal thoughts since childhood and despite being one of the funniest motherfuckers to ever walk the earth, he had been under this dark cloud his whole life that eventually consumed him. The only reason he made it as far as he did is that he had this amazing gift and, thankfully, he realized this. I am convinced that if the psychopaths running the world don’t kill us all, there will be people discovering Vic Chesnutt’s work far in to the future. People will always find music that singular and powerful. I believe this to be true of you and your work, but YOU need to believe it. Unlike Vic, it’s clear that you want to LIVE and I truly hope you will go through whatever hardships are necessary for you to get your shit together and continue to do so. There are those of us in this broken world that take comfort listening to people like you…it makes the absurdity and cruelty of this weird fucking trip we’re all on a little more palatable.

If I had a teeny bit of pocket money; trav'lin penniless means goin with the flow and sometimes you gotta stop at some podunk (in) donut shop for however long til you're fed & gassed or whatever.
