It's probably not technically legal, but you can just lay a gopro down on the track. Not gonna hurt the train and worst case you lose a gopro.

I have to say, standing on the tracks like he was, probably gave the engineer the impression that he was trying to commit suicide or something stupid. You can rail fan all you want without standing on the tracks while a train is approaching, you don't need to unnecessarily aggravate the crew, giving them cause for concern , be real!

Why did the Silver Star 91 pull nearly through the crossing, and then back down in the reverse direction? Conductor stated "Good for nine cars." There were 9 cars in that train, including the 2 engines.

Orange Shirt was NOT standing on the tracks after the crossing guard lit off! Does the crew think the track must be clear continuously even when a train is not present? SUCH BULL SHITE

Common sense tells me that unless you are an employee of that RR and assigned to be there once you get between the gates, on the stones, on and or between the rails you are where you don't belong. These are adults doing this...right?

I very much want to get into a career of railroading, but idiots like these constantly make me second guess myself. It's a damn travesty that I'm seeing so many crew members sharing stories of one suicide, followed by another story of an unfortunate soul... It's as if the matter of railway deaths has became all but commonplace, which only further infuriates me... Perhaps I'm better off the rails. I can only extend my deepest empathy to those that have unfortunately claimed a life on the rails, and just keep praying for safe journeys for the other crews.

Hopefully railroad police either of Amtrak or the freight rail operator will be at some point be able to identify and call out this foamer. As a volunteer on a heritage railway, I have to say, foamers scare me. There used to be a teenager with glasses and an engineer’s cap who would ride Metrolink trains in the LA area and annoy the conductors to an extreme extent, and on one occasion a relative of mine saw him enter into the cab in one of the old Bombardier cab cars on a northbound train (headed from LA to Ventura County, so the train was being controlled from the locomotive, and for some reason he was able to furtively open the cab door (perhaps it had been accidentally left unlocked, or worse, he might have stolen a passkey), and sneak in there, but the conductor noticed and removed him. I have also heard of “Conquestors” on the New York Subway as they call themselves who do even worse things, in addition to breaking into cabs and messing with controls (hopefully none of them ever gets ahold of a reverser key), they are known for stealing signage and other souvenirs, by peeling it off. I think if these trends continue there might be a need for increased funding of railroad police, or the provision of increased training to regular law enforcement so they can supplement the railroad police agencies, who are often stretched quite thin.

That guy in orange was stupid for standing between the rails. If he had tripped at the wrong moment trying to get out of the way, that train could have been on top of him before he had a chance to get up. Don't blame the crew for getting mad.

It’s not only trespassing and illegal but if you think a train will stop for you it will! About a mile after it hits you. #BeSafeAroundTrains
