When I first playing Monhun, my weapon of choice is Sword&Shield or Longsword Now as a veteran, I don't think I can use any other weapon except Greatsword

I got the same weapon if it’s the dark blade thing or whatever it’s called been a minute since I’ve played but I got bored bc once you get to sun break your weak asl and have to grind all over again as a katana main in this game you not doing good damage if you can’t parry everything and unfortunately on ps5 trynna time parry in this game is so odd I can parry so easy in monster hunter world and wilds beta but this game it just feels off I love the game but man being weak after the long azz grind I put into the game is annoying asl

I started my monster hunter journey using the Lance all the way through monster hunter world base game. The lance is something that got me into the game because it was so difficult when i started playing. lance gives you those defensive options which are great for beginners who don't know the monsters move set. Now I have 1000+ hours into monster hunter in general and the lance still is goated but long sword is also just too top tier of a weeb weapon.

In Rise u can replace tackle with guard tackle which the same but have way more defence and , it will help u with timing your tackles Also to make your charges faster, get the skill ‘focus’ lvl3 on your gear Also damn u improved haha, cheers 🗿

out of all monster hunter games this one fucked me the most 💀

Just a few tips on what you could improve, I'll focus on things you could do better but you did great overall :D 0:05 and 1:00 : avoid the wide sweep, it has a lot of animation time you can't roll out off, you're better doing a roll into tackle. You'll be more free of movement and options if you need to react to a monster move 1:35 that's the issue with this move, it's not even your fault for missing. It's super stylish and cool to do but it's terrible at hitting the target especially moving ones and let you really vulnerable in the air and on the ground while you recover from the move (at 1:57 and 2:50 for example). And if the target is immobile you're better of going for a True Charged Slash. All other Silkbind moves are sadly just better than this one. 1:46 as soon as your hunter does the shoulder movement you can let go of the input, you'll get your damages out sooner and be able to move earlier too. 3:18 when you see or know an attack is coming, tackle, tackle has super armor so you won't get flinched and you take reduced damage ( -30% if I remember correctly). The tackle is you best friend with this weapon, to get to your TCS faster, to tank hits that would send you flying, to stun the monster (when hitting its head of course) and combo into pretty much anything you need like a roll, you power sheathe or getting deeper in your TCS combo. 3:28 a thing I do to be sure to hit those more reliably is I aim the camera directly at the monster and aim the left joystick straight. It will become second nature to just align the camera with the direction you want you slash to go after a while. 3:38 here it's another issue with the wide sweep, you don't have that much control on to where your hunter will be turned, a roll into tackle and then your TCS combo toward the monster would have worked better. 4:35 you have the right idea going for uncharged slash to get to your TCS faster but there you should have kept charging into tackle to super armor the hit and then go for the TCS. 5:00 you can roll out of sharpening, you won't get the sharpen of anyway, it's better to just dodge the hit. 5:09 If you're not sure you'll be able to avoid a move by just running you can aways superman dive by running away from the monster and pressing the roll button. You are fully invulnerable during the dive animation. 5:58 there is a setup that works almost every time, you go against the monster face (or part of its body you want to hit),hit your guard button, do a single roll away from the monster, turn back without getting closer, then do you usual 3 hit combo. You did it perfectly there but be careful at where you place your bombs, you don't want to hit the bombs before you wake up the monster or it will be the first bomb damage that is doubled and you don't want that. 6:38 that's pretty much it yeah, the weapon is not that complicated you just need to learn monster timings and yours, and that comes with playing :D I stumbled on your video through KZbin recommendations and I'm not disappointed, I'll be sure to stick around for the next ones!

yeeeeah when it comes to greatsword its like doing a dance is the best way to put it. you dont lead you follow mostly since GS is a hit and run type of weapon, for myself i put a lot of hours into greatsword where i can look at a monster and just bounce left and right of attacks before hitting hard back. its really fun when you get the timing to just say no you and breaking there jaw mid attack

What a lot of gs mains do is to swing the first two hits uncharged, them charge the third for the true charge because it's so much more damage

With GS u don’t need to be hitting all time but every hit counts. It’s one of most satisfying weapons since it requires understanding of the monsters movement and commitment to the attacks or dodges or guard or tackle beforehand. Random example: ik the monster will do a swing the turn around, I attack then tackle the swing then true charge slash on the head by the time it turn around. It just feels so good

Hey ! just wanna say that if you end up finishing the game, buy sunbreak, i just started it, and it is like actually very very good !

I see great improvement & now we'll need you to divulge your armor skills. Like prioritizing getting Focus and Quick Sheath. My personal favorite is Bludgeoner since it opens up other funny weapons options like I did Rise with the Goss Harag's GS.

Try gs vs an actual monster sometime, Khezu is unfun overall but with gs is top boring fights of all time

Don't forget you can eat in your tent in this game, so you actually don't have to eat before the hunt, and you can eat again every death. Keep up the hunt!

Greatsword is usually a hit and run weapon really takes mastery of the monsters moves more than the weapon itself, but you were doing great for a first hunt. Especially the tackle into TCS at 5:47, I'm glad you gave yourself credit on that. Keep it up, you'll be there in no time!

Skill issue (I play GS exactly like you)

when you master the GS, you will realize that it is the most reliable weapon ever. you don't need to do fancy combos, you just need to hit. a super simple weapon, hard to master, but utterly satisfying.

I can finally say this proudfully... skill issue. Now leaving appart the mean part, and the fact that I really don't know how the GS handles in rise, I recall two things that are true. 1. Hit and Run is the name of the game on GS ususally and 2. Khezu has not enough space to to attack it with multiple charged atacks (at least cosecutively) which is right given that when this one first appeared was in a time where you only had only one charged atack. I'd recomend you that if youd like to give it another run take your time to examine the spaces to attack man, this beauty needs patience and figure oute the kit so it can shine. Great video though, it was entretaining looking foward to see more of you
