My altra Torin 7s had a detached outsole in under 30 miles. The sole was flapping in the wind, the adhesive used is absolute garbage and the build quality sucks. Are you a conspiracy theorist? Are all these people (myself included) teaming up to falsely slander altra. with similar problem descriptions? Your individual experience with altra shoes is not enough to discredit the poor experiences of many many runners with defective altra shoes. Also consider that different models of altra shoes have different designs which could be more or less durable.

Serious running!! Do you remember how many litres of water you took on during the whole 100k ?? Did you use salt tabs each time you drank??
@trailrunningphil2 күн бұрын
I had 2 500ml soft flasks of water which I filled up at each aid station along the way. There's also opportunities to stop at shops to buy additional drinks etc. I think I did a salt tablet every 90 mins or perhaps 2 hours. That will fluctuate depending on the weather you get.

It’s a shame mate, as I had one of my best runs ever with you. I do completely understand your reasoning though, I’m not running at all atm and, even though I miss running, I’m really struggling to get started again. It’s great that you have the Hand Pan to put your passion into, I was seriously impressed when you played for me in ‘The Mark G wagon’ it just sounds incredible live. It’s like music therapy! Just found your channel Phil! I’m a trail ultra runner (north downs way etc) but moving onto the Thames 100k path this sept. If you could go back what ‘proper’ meals would you have prepped?
@trailrunningphil4 ай бұрын
I wouldnt have prepped any proper meals because there is so much hot food and proper meals provided on the course as part of your race entry. The problem we all have I think is that we decide we cant eat it and don't be strict enough to MAKE ourselves eat the food. Theres no co-incidence that i felt much better after I had those chips but even they weren't enough towards the end.

Cheers Phil and well done! This came at a great time for me - I’m doing my first ever 100 km on Saturday! I’ll take your advice on the checkpoints for sure!
@trailrunningphil4 ай бұрын
The most important advice Conrad is - EAT THE FOOD! Even if you don't fancy it.. you will NEED it. The more calories you get on board, the better your running will be. Try everything somethings you THINK will work, might not and things you are certain they WONT work probably will! ;). Enjoy the day mate. The training is done. This is your lap of honour!

OHHHHH!!!!😟 Don't wanna do one more day??? Well I must admit I was surprised you were finding it so hard already, but of course life gets in the way too sometimes!! 17 days something to aim for???😆😁 Sorry Phil but I've run every day for over 2 years now! My first 500+km month was August 2022 when I decided to run minimum 16km every day for 31 days, and ended up doing 507km. In 2023 for 9 out of the 12 months I ran well over 500km, my top was 623.5 last August and 637.5km last October!! You and I have very different styles it seems ... me I run very consistently every day every day, slowly building up to those ultras, but I guess you just kinda dive into them!! I wanna do this challenge next month as training for my second 50k trail next April... I feel pretty confident I'll make it!!😁 But of course, anything can happen, as we saw with poor Lee!!😟🤷🏻♀️
