Dear Prof Parloff, what do you think of Bernstein’s performance of this quarter with full orchestra? I think it is all splendour of Beethoven magnified to incredible degree

Partie orchestrale legèrement ralentie et en retrait comme une tristesse, voie de basse fortement trémulante comme un sanglot . Impressionnante charge existentielle Magnifique

A bit of resemblance to the 1st movement of the Mozart g minor piano quartet.

A very different interpretation from other performances I have heard. He slows the tempo considerably during the contemplative sections. I love both his upper and lower registers. His accompanist plays with great clarity and sensitivity. A remarkable joint effort.

Anybody can play Mendelssohn with SPEED, but these musician play the music with PACE and that makes all the difference. Many thanks to Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Centre and is there any more from you out there?

There are similarities between this Beethoven Andante and this Mozart's Largo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/majbgKGwbrmMd6M&si=W_QoXBibxBHwUR8r 😮

I love this work, but I'm used to the old LaSalle recording which is, perhaps, a bit revere You play it like you mean it, which sometimes isn't the case with Schoenberg, and 1:39 you play it with fire and energy, giving it heaps of oomph. Well done

No he's not funny and his knowledge is probably just a crock. This proves one thing. It proves the truth of the adage: Talking about music is like dancing about architecture. Go dig a hole and jump in it and stay there. Vomit.
