She didnt want to be a solo artist cause she loved being a back up singer. Very humble and a gify from God to the world.

Two nobody’s talking about the queen…. Means nothing! You two have no clue as to what she capable of vocally. You two could never stand on stage with her.

This is far from their best song! You should react to " If you stay" " All I Have to Give" their grammy performance from 2000 is great too. They had a bunch of r&b songs that were released in Europe that didn't make the US albums

This is my personal favorite album from MJ just because it encapsulated the direction in which popular music was going at the time and I love the 90s sound production. It was fun listening to this conversation since you guys have opposing view points and disagreed on stuff. lol One thing that you guys didn't mention is the length of this album. I will say that it's a bit too long. He probably could've trimmed off 7-10 minutes off this record and it probably would've been a tighter, improved album altogether. "Will You Be There" did NOT need to be nearly 8 minutes! lol

Great analysis guys especially breaking down the backgrounds and sound structure! I remember my Dad playing her first album when I was 10 and it was way more rnb/soul than pop. Some pop but always a soulful voice. The only pop heavy album was music box honestly which wasn’t her decision as an artist. Would be great to get your reactions from her first two albums and also Butterfly specifically The Roof video. Much love ❤️

90s Mariah bridged pop and r&b. Just like Janet and Whitney. She was initially marketed to r&b audiences. It wasn't til her 3rd album that they turned middle of the road pop. And by the late 90s she was back to doing both simultaneously while helping push hip hop further into the mainstream. So there must have been another reason she wasn't played in your house.

1. Don't believe all the sh*t the media says about Mariah. That Diva sh*t is overplayed surface level bs. 2. What off the wall stuff does MC do?! If you really watch a crap ton of interviews from MC you'll realize she's super humble and ridiculously talented and intelligent. 3. MC has incorporated R&B, Gospel, Hip hop etc into her entire catalogue. She's really versatile. 4. I'll advice you to review Mariah's catalogue chronologically!! Incorporating lives and music videos from each year starting 1990. I swear it's not because I stan..but you will be highly impressed. She is the greatest singer ever to ME 😌

She’s mixed her father is African American and Afro Latino mother is Irish . She never gave herself that queen of Christmas title the industry did . Since she has the biggest selling most selling Christmas song of all time . Mariah is part of the vocal trinity of the past 30 years she’s the only one out of Whitney and Celine that writes and produces her music . What off the sh#t is she doing she’s I’m not getting that comment . Mariah has always been r&b since day 1 she’s influenced Monica’s and Brandy’s she’s is one of the greatest. That is fact Mariah and Whitney are know as the vocal trinity with Whitney. I’m telling my age lol since 1990 I’ve been on Mariah since vision of love . Thank you both for acknowledging her catalog.
