Live in Texas and you heard correctly. The light attachments on the mower definitely come in handy down here. I either mow my lawn at 7:30am (against H.O.A. rules) or around 8:50pm dusk during the spring and summer months because the blistering 100+ degree temp from the sun on your skin is no joke. Sometimes those high 90's temp. can easily still be going on in Oct/ mid Nov.

I got the Makita and it is not self propelled and love it. At first I was like its a little harder to push and mow the lawn and then it was like no I am out of shape! Now after using it like this for a year I have had no problems and it cuts better than any gas mower I have ever used. I went with Makita because all my other power tools are the same brand so it was an easy decision and love this brand for quality and durability.

I think I am going to go with the Milwaukee mostly because I want to get Milwaukee tools with M18 batteries. I feel like that makes the lawn mower a little bit more of a bargain. Also, I would not recommend charging the battery right after use while it is still hot. Let it cool, may be put it on the charger the next day if u can.

I have bought 2 third party batteries on Amazon for my ego stuff (5AH ) I have been using them for 2 years and have had zero problems with them. The 7.5 AH original that came with the mower literally stopped charging correctly and only lasted 10% of what it did new 2 months after the warranty expired.

I have the ego 2150 with the 10ah battery. Ego mowers are garbage on a thick cool season lawn. Mohawks and stragglers, uneven cut. Dont believe the hype, ego pays for good reviews from influencers. Before anyone says try the high lift try adding weight, tried it.

I have a new Toro lithium, it sucks, drive wheel fell off in 2nd hour, battery shorts, and on-line Toro will not take it back. They do not take items back if you use it for 1 minute! Their rear left geared wheel unbolts itself from the bracket, it self destructs! Two others have the same problem. Their repair dealer literally told me "with Toro, its Buyer Beware". I have a Toro case number, a BBB case number, and a US Consumer Product Safety Commission case number. Save yourself and learn from my mistake, and stay away from Toro.

Makita guy here . . . usually. No Red Team tools at all, but . . . Ended up with the M18. Had the Mak had the folding handle, I'd have likely stayed faithful. But it didn't. Also I am not above abusing the mower from time to time in thick weeds and blackberry canes on my very rural property and there are videos to the effect the M18 is significantly more powerful than the Mak. So far, I have not been bothered by any of the dislikes here. I likely will never use the bag. May or may not use the rear discharge chute. So far I am not inclined to do so. Mulcher only, me. Will certainly never use the LEDs. Happy so far. This replaces a 21 year-old Craftsman that was still running well but it was manual push only. I have a couple of hills and my 80 year old knees just weren't happy pushing a mower up those hills any more. Day after the Milwaukee arrived, I sold the gas mower as space is at a premium in my shed and it seemed unlikely I'd ever use the gas mower again. I have real doubts that switching from gas to batts is a good idea from the POV of longevity and $$. But the electrics certainly win for convenience. It will certainly hurt when the day comes to replace those big 12 a-h batteries!

I just sold my 21 year-old Craftsman gas mower. It was working fine but was push only and I am older and no longer keen on pushing it up the hill. No repairs in that 21 years! About 3 spark plugs, one carb cleaning, one carb filter change and 2 or 3 blades, all done by myself. All that said, I just finished my first session with the M18. Under no illusions that it will even come near the low cost of ownership of that Craftsman! So, in a way I agree with the sentiment that these electrics are way, WAY more costly to own and feed than their gas counterparts . . . but here I am.

I bought an m18 package online from Home Depot included mower, trimmer, chainsaw and blower for $1609. Fantastic deal. Wasn't sure if I'd use or sell the chainsaw. I used after a storm on all the tree branches down in my yard. Everything is great and I love it all. Perfect equipment for a 73yo widow. It's been a challenge knowing what to purchase since my husband passed.

Just be careful with that chainsaw. Its weight belies its danger. In the first five minutes of use I forgot all my years of training with the gas-powered chainsaws I’ve owned and held a branch in my left hand while foolishly held the saw in my right. The chain caught on something, bounced up and to the left. The saw glove and that fast stopping battery tool saved my index finger and thumb. Both hands behind the bar at all times! Always wear a chainsaw helmet! Your deity be with you!

The Milwaukee doesn't clog up? That's my most insane gripe I have with it.... thing is non stopped clogged, and have to clean the thing after every mow it's so caked with grass inside (as you should but never did with my previous mower). Granted my grass gets think in just a few days, but it's ridiculous.

Love my ego mower. Its a 1st gen power plus model and still works like a champ. Whenever I get a new ego tool i ALWAYS get the power plus model a little more expensive but that xtra power helps. I do have a plastic deck and the grass does stuck to it might have to try the mystery juce😅

the folding feature on the ego is a nice to have if you need to save storage space but be aware that the wires can end up getting damaged at the joint, simple fixes are available of over the internet but it can be a pain to troubleshoot and source which wire is the issue. I recommend avoid folding as much as possible. edit: I am sure for everyone who has experienced this there is someone who will say that have folded it a million times with no issues. I am just saying it can happen, certainly happened to me, simple fix once I figured out the issue.

Geesh - still torn. Our 25 year old gas powered, self-propelled Honda's transmission just gave up the ghost, and we're considering battery operated. I only need it for trim work as we use a sitting down lawnmower for the rest of the property. Even though we have Milwaukee batteries already (for tools), that rusted deck may be the game changer. Cleaning the underside every time I mow? That might be a bridge too far. Weird - the inside of the deck on our gas Honda doesn't have any rust. What is Honda doing that Milwaukee isn't? Still thinking... And thanks for the video.

Easy solution - Why try to fix something thats not broke? You and many tens of thousands of Honda mower customers already know that Honda mowers are super reliable, easy to maintain and have low yearly costs.....and you have proven this to be true yourself..... I own a 10amp EGO powerful electric mower and a Honda and hands down if I had to choose Id go with the Honda...because im not ever going to purchase another super expensive battery for the Ego when if fails(its almost the cost of a new mower). And you can purchase a Honda mower with a 'nexite' polycarbonate indestructible deck nowadays if you prefer as well.

@@smz5302 You should consider a cheaper and as powerful option - the EGO 7amp (if you have small yards)...or EGO 10amp mower (if larger yards)...Ego mowers are as bulletproof as Hondas ...and you can get a no frills Ego 10amp mower for less than this very heavy M18 mower...just my opinion, but whatever you choose Im sure you will be happy with it.

@aaronbounds1336 This is the exact reason I decided to go with the milwaukee mower. I am in theory 50% through with life and well.... Money will return, time will not. So if I can knock 10 to 15 minutes every week screwing with a gas mower off of my schedule.... for $1,000.... over the course of 5 years, that is EXTREMELY worth it to me. Yes we have to charge it, but, I am finding I can get three mows out of it per charge and that's with 6.0 batteries. I haven't even opened the 12.0s it comes with yet. So to be able to walk out the door, walk up to the mower and hit the bar and the blade switch... then take off mowing, then stop, put it back up and not worry about it, is very worth the time to me. I have two acres to take care of and I use a JDx350 as the main mower and have had a couple different gas mowers to mow the inside of the ditch line (20 minutes) and the perimeter of the various yard areas (10 minutes stopping and starting about 20 times). It always seemed like a gas mower would become hard to start after a year or two of this short running. A tree fell on my recent Toro AWD one that I never quite liked. If there is one thing I could change about the mower, it's this, I'd love the option to be able to plug the mower in to charge directly, but, the process to charge the batteries is easy and fast.

Its the highlift blades. Switch to a standard or low lift blade. But neither low or medium lift will create suction like a highlift blade.
