077 beta was around 2008, so closer to 16 years since the last new family. Feels just like yesterday 😂

Only if you have access to the pre-Alpha (which needed to be requested months ago), otherwise it will be in a pre-release by the end of summer (anytime soon)

hey great tutorials! i was able to get the end result but if i follow what you do with alphas, it doesn't seem to work and i'm not sure why. putting my alpha as 0 creates a greyed out grid background rather than maintaining the black as it does in the video, could you explain what this slider does or point me in the right direction? thanks

Those buttons and sliders can be "mapped" to a midi controler?
@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
Yes! You can make a CHOP reference from a channel in the MIDI In CHOP to the "Value" parameter of either the Slider or Button COMP to control it via MIDI. For the Slider COMP, you'll likely need to further process the CHOP data with a Math CHOP, as the slider requires data in the 0-1 range.

Hi I am running this on UE 5.4.2 and followed all of your instructions without an issue but nothing happened when I push play to test the OSC connection. I set my IP address and port to Receive IP Address: 127.0.0.1; Port: 10000 but when push play I don't see the value messages from TD. Do you know if it's different with UE 5.4?
@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
As far as I'm aware it should be the same with UE 5.4.2! That said, connection issues are a common problem with Windows and OSC. The official recommendation is to try disabling Windows Firewall if you're experiencing issues: docs.derivative.ca/OSC_Out_CHOP

I can't use mouse for tendinites problem. I do use Pen Tablet. Is there a kind of mode for that on configurations...?
@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
If you use a pen tablet, it might be worth seeing if you're able to map the middle mouse button to one of the buttons on the pen (assuming it has more than two buttons for left and right click). Another option is to use the setting to use Alt+Right Click as an alternative for middle mouse click (available in the preferences window, and I believe turned on by default).

That is actually genious way to quickly iterate, I definitely know the pain of doing this in after effects. Thanks for the insight! Also taking a screenshot of the waveform is really accurarte enough to sync it? Wow!
@benguerrette17 күн бұрын
I usually end up with a little bit of trial and error when going through this process to get things in sync. Listening to the audio and getting a sense of what sounds relate to which transients helps. Glad it's helpful!

Is there a way to record the data coming in off of the MUSE to allow me to work with it at a later date ?
@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
Yes! You can use a Record CHOP to capture CHOP data over a specific period of time and use it later. Check out the wiki: docs.derivative.ca/Record_CHOP To see it in use, right click on the Record CHOP and click "OP Snippets"

@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
Yes, hard to believe it's been around for that long! You'd be surprised how common it is to still find the Kinect v2 in use. Sometimes, having the dedicated sensors and well-tested and documented software support is beneficial. And the low cost is great for artists on a budget 🙂

hi, TD beginner here, love the effect and tutorial, quick question: how to change the shape of feedback generation, for example, instead of rectangle, but triangle, is that possible just inside of TD? or I need to make some kind of grid animation outside to drive animation. My understanding is the noiseTOP is driving the feedback animation, right?
@user-lh7lk8im4z21 күн бұрын
by grid animation, I meant grid made of triangle shapes
@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
Unfortunately there's not a way to do this directly -- we're relying on the Limit TOP's quantize function for the rectangular grid, which is only going to produce squares or rectangles. That said, if you chose a square (1:1) aspect ratio for the effect, it might be possible to create a triangular grid by using a Transform and Composite TOP (though you'd have to generate a second Noise texture as well)

Hey HQ, great tut, saved me a lot ob trial and error. Is there a trick or a tutorial to get the orientation right so my img continues on the geometry? For example: i want to do a animation of the snake game where the snake moves around the cube
@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
Although possible, it's probably something you'd be better off trying to achieve with either TouchDesigner's Cube Map functionality (see the Cube Map TOP: docs.derivative.ca/Cube_Map_TOP) or potentially via geometry instancing. It's unfortunately much more complex than simply applying the same texture to all sides of the cube.

does somebody know why can´t i find the particle GPU in my palette?? :(
@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ10 күн бұрын
It should be there! Double check that you've updated to the latest version of TouchDesigner. Also make sure you're looking in the Tools folder, which you have to select first in the top half of the Palette window. Once you've selected the Tools folder, you should be able to find the particlesGPU COMP about 3/4 of the way through the list (you may have to scroll). Hope that helps!
