Music seems come out directly from the artist's soul. Techniques are so good that almost can not see it.

👏👏👏My takeaway from this.. Top teachers give most valuable instructions on emotions and expressions, techniques are secondary.

A particularly outstanding performance of this masterpiece. Wonderfully fluid and expressive tremolo, sensitive use of dynamics and expansive overall conception. I believe this piece was composed in 1944 in El Salvador, shortly before Barrios died of a chronic heart condition. This piece was not titled by him but, according to a popular story, a poor woman knocked on his door and asked for "alms for the love of God." It is interesting how the treble theme in tremolo gradually ascends higher and higher, symbolizing the composer's spirit on its final journey.

What a great great teacher. Man I miss this kind of knowledge. So many dilettantes in classical guitar education.

Nice ! Really loved your advices. I am also working it. I have one question: for the ostinato section at 2:20 do you always alternate I-M, I-M, I-M ... on the B string while playing the harmonics or do you sometimes repeat one finger (for the harmonic combo at 2:35 for exemple, it seems to be easier when i repeat M finger on B string while playing the harmonics simultaneously with the thumb).

I'm turning back to this interpretation since I really can't find one as expressive as this one. Better than K. Yamashita.

Loved it, my only criticism for his playing here was the lack of timbre. He’s clearly made a conscience decision to play at this tempo with purpose. So in slowing it down he should capitalize on the freedom to exaggerate some of the different tones

Well done! I played this piece as a child without an introduction and without nails; with a nail it sounds brighter, but less tonal.

Good interpretation, integrity of form, respect! I played this as a child, although without the flagellants.

Hey Marco, beautiful arrangement. I saw you have the video course on the prelude, but couldn’t find the score for sale. Is that because you’re essentially following a well-established score? If so, may I ask which arrangement out there is your favorite? I’ve looked at a few and none are quite as compelling as yours.

Great teaching from a maestro, but I wonder sometimes if some students even really listen to the music they are learning, or enjoying it before taking it on? Does he even know this piece very well? He's a good player, but its not about him, its about the music.
