They used the 153 cu inch four cylinder engine in these fleet cars. They were pretty robust and durable. The postal service also would use them in their route carrier Jeeps and small vans.

Always wished that doorway could’ve been used as part of the park that occupies the site now. Would have been a cool.

Me too! I have a chunk of it as a souvenir. It was solid concrete, stacked in sections like brick. From what I can tell from looking at the past google shots of this door, is that I have the base of one of the square columns.

That tall white building in the distance is the Palomar Hospital, recently demolished. A few more minutes and I’ll find out exactly where this was taken.

Look how close you could go and watch the planes take off and land! I know because my dad would pickup mortadella, provolone and french bread and Italian cookies from Felippes and we would go and watch the planes!!!! ❤

I used to listen to Bill in the late 90s on KFMB-AM in San Diego. One night, I called in and talked to him. As per usual, he liked to ask the ladies about their figures and what they look like so I got the pat, “How big a gal are you?” Good times.

When I worked in Atlanta my job was to take the Bill Balance Show records - yes, vinyl LPs - to the bus station to be sent to the next station awaiting the delivery. I would pick up the set of LPs for the next week for us to broadcast. WIIN Atlanta, 970 daytimer.

The one thing that makes me sad about San Diego is that it could not become a hub for world trade Mac in the 20s and 30s San Diego just got blown out of the water by Los Angeles crushed we had a chance to become a major major player and a major city and yet we became a secondary subdivision of our state and always will be

I’ve lived in La Jolla for 20 years and even though that doesn’t make me a “long timer” by local standards, it’s changed even in the two decades that I’ve been here. It looks remarkably the same, but it’s far more oriented toward a very particular, kind of young athletic streamlined consumer, not someone interested in art or culture. You can still find those things, of course, but I’ve never seen so many gyms and personal trainers in a half mile radius. Thankfully Warwicks and DG Wills and the Athenaeum have all survived, though the Museum of Art is a shadow of its former self. More gallery space, but it feels like a nod to investors and art collectors more than it feels like a place for the community.

Thank you for sharing this clip. Sea World was so beautiful back then. It has lost all its beauty and is now a mere facade of what it used to be. It is now cramped with rides, restaurants and cement. The beautiful waterway paved over and flamingos cramped in a small cage with a horrid loud ride roaring over them.
