Sorry about not seeing the comment sooner - I suspect any response would be too late and think you should know that the segment you commented on was recorded about three weeks back. Don records once a week for radio broadcast and to avoid any chance of conflict with the station, we do not post the rebroadcast for some time after the radio broadcast. I will however past the query on to Don for comment.

Please reach out to everyone and educate them of our problem here in Heuvelton which eventually dumps into the St Lawrence River which will become a huge problem. Thanks Don!

I grew up fishing Lake Michigan near Chicago. I moved to Florida 12 years ago. Yes, it is too hot here and I miss the north.

Depending on the fish, it doesn’t take that much depth to cause the bends. I caught a pickerel off a drop off in maybe 12-15 feet and I remember fighting it and fighting it and then it floated up and I couldn’t get it to swim off. Had to eat it. But I realize now I needed to fizz it

Ive read both sides of the fizzing data. Somewhat controversial as it is not a definite that the fish live after fizzing.

I always wanted to be a pro angler since I was 12 years old. That’s until I was invited to a tournament 10 years ago. It was 8 hours of just casting and casting. My back ached and it felt like my rod weighed 100 pounds by 2pm. No lunch, no bathroom. So that day squashed those dreams. I would rather fish and enjoy it at my own pace.

Hi Dan - some of what I've been putting up was shot quite a while back and the videos were really only useful for shorts. Don has been supplied with cameras that I hope will make videoing easier for him than it has been and, once we get to the next season, we hopefully will have a number of videos to post.

Don really cut the story a bit short - as I understand it, he was told he actually had a choice of planes, one of which was the second oldest Otter still being flown and the other was the Beaver that was (theoretically) crashed in the movie "The Edge". The Otter got filled up so he almost had no choice with the Beaver (and I'm sure the story he had been told about the plane's history weighed on him as well. I remember flying with him into a lake almost into Labrador - as they were weighing us and all our equipment, I was surveying all the duct tape on the wings.

Don, I'm glad I found your channel. You're spot on as ever. I just got back to Florida from a visit to New York. Caught one striped bass at City Island. To what you are talking about in this video. Fish, I believe know every inch of the water they live in. Its just as we know our house. As I just wrote the last sentence you said the same thing about " like a house". I have a large aquarium. New fish are very disoriented when you put them in. It can take up to a week for the fish to fully adjust to its new surroundings. The longer the fish is jn the aquarium the better it can manuever as if its senses have learned every inch and pressure. Its facjnating how they can position themselves and make the most out of a space which is way smaller than their wild environment.

Well said Don. I to was lucky to have a friend like your Bill. Once in a lifetime to receive a gift like that. My friend Tom died in my arms over 25 years ago after he helped me bring my boat dock out of the water for the winter in Sullivan County NY. He was a WW 11 Navy Vet. I wish your friend well.

Always ,always, looking out for us in every way possible. Like I mentioned a million times , I really do miss your old TV shows. My brother and I watched them faithfully and you gave us so many tips and tricks and shared your experiences with and also that , my friend , is what fishing is all about. It’s not me always catching them , but the other partner or even a stranger that you met on the waters. Good stuff yet again! You’re the best!

Jefferson County actually has no limit on yellow perch, i think with one or a few lakes with a special reg of 50? They want you to harvest them as they're too abundant, I think you can even sell them by the lb!

I used to fish there many, many years ago. But crowds got too unruly, and I gave up. I still fish, just not there. The small streams further inland are fine, you have it all to yourself.

Fished muskies really hard this year in the area, and caught a total of 8. It's my third year fishing for muskys, and if there is one lesson I've learned, it's to not quit no matter what, and always expect that the next cast could be the bite you've been looking for.
