Great video.. Not a fan of the U-Brake but one came on the cheap Slammer I found. Felt like it was fine before I changed my tires.. but one side was way off and not moving inwards. Other side wasn't super close but moved just enough to get some stoppage. Kept trying to adjust the cable and idk if I broke something but one side kept rubbing (the closer one) and didn't want to release (snap back/off). I just ordered a new caliper and I'll toss it on, I usually have better luck just putting something new on hehe.

Sound installation video. My drive side was an absolute bitch to get it through the bb. And my installation tool had an enormous size bolt and I didn't have a large enough spanner. It seems OK after I managed to install it but I may of bodged it?

I have a cruiser that the wife wore out the crank and bearings. I would like to convert from a 1 piece crank to a three-piece and use sealed bearings instead of the caged bearings. Do I need to measure the ID of the bike frame in order to get the proper OD bearing set?
@thebasementbikeshop2336
@thebasementbikeshop2336 Ай бұрын
@@watermelongrin it should be standard “American” size for the I.D. Of the frame. You just need the O.D. Of the spindle of the new crank. Hope that help! Rob

Thank you!!!! Every single other video shows the crank and everything already removed and assumes everyone is only asking about how to knock sealed bearings out of the frame. Well I wanted to double check which side was reverse thread before I started reefing on it in the wrong direction, and if it was possible to remove everything without a 32mm spanner wrench and whatever that two-pronged wrench is called that fits in the slots in that plate. Seeing you do it told me everything I needed to know and I got it removed with an adjustable wrench and a big ol flat blade in a slot.

To make a tire that's resistant to flats. Take old tube, cut nipple off, then cut it down the middle. Layer old tube inside tire or around new tube. Inflate slowly, as you start to inflate rotate tire and squeeze the tire to help get the extra layer the old tube to sit properly inside. A tire pumped up to high air pressure is more resistant to flats. A lower psi will make manuals easier. If you really want indestructible tire take old extremely bald smaller tire layer that inside of new bigger tire instead of extra tube. Bald 1.75 tire inside new 2.2 tire. Tire inside a tire can be difficult to mount but it can be done. Whike inflating again go slow rotate tire and squeeze around to be help get proper bead to rim circumference. CMM ❤

Hey Rob I have a 1996 dyno compe and installed a pair of the repop GT power series cranks, when I bought them I paid $40 for the american bottom bracket. I now want to put the cranks on a 1987 dyno compe. And put the power series cranks onto the 1987 but don't want to pay $40 for a pair of American bottom bracket and from what I've seen they are all in the $40 range. But the mid bottom brakcet is cheaper, what's the difference in them can I use mid brackets for these cranks?
@thebasementbikeshop2336
@thebasementbikeshop2336 4 ай бұрын
@@ericodeychuk8106 the “mid” and “American” refers to the frame’s bottom bracket size. A lot of times, American bottom bracket are just mid bottom bracket with cups to fit American bottom bracket frames. The point of the mid bottom bracket was to eliminate the cups of the American and press the bearings right into the frame. I hope this helps

These bearings aren't designed to tolerate any sideways force being applied to the inner (chrome) ring. It causes brinneling on the inner and outer race, as well as the balls. It would be better to remove the cup and bearing together if you have to tap it out.

Reason why many people including me say “cranks” instead of crank is because of the fact that there are two crank arms. I think most people consider the crank arms and pedals the “cranks” and then the middle piece is just a bottom bracket and spindle. Yes spindle is included in cranks but it’s still a seperate piece however I don’t mind it’s all the same to me 😂 just letting you know where that probably comes from
