Not exactly! It's Nick Mann's car and his turbo is run by a turbine to maintain full boost at all times. The engine is still a racing internal combustion engine.... His early tech has been replaced by electric motor driven turbos...

For the benefit of those trying to identify the unknown car...... It is a 1962 racing version of the Ogle SX1000, called the Ogle Lightweight GT designed by David Ogle. It was based on the BMC Mini.

@ASI-l2w What do you mean? In the clip it starts off with an Alpha out in front followed by 4 cars, a Lotus Cortina, two minis and the Ogle.... I'm guessing from your profile photo that you are American? The cars are classic British cars, apart from the Alpha Romeo out in front of them, which is Italian. The white something or other, is a Ford Cortina with a 1557cc Lotus Twin Cam engine. The two small cars that look the same as each other are BMC Mini Coopers. The bubble shaped car with the white X rollover bars visible through the rear screen is the Ogle I referred to.

It is! Many competitors rate it as thier favourite hill. For me it is a favourite too bit alongside wiscombe Park. Both very different to drive but equally demanding and fun.

Sounds are vital to the enjoyment of car videos, and we can hear how straightforward it can be to pick up noises nicely. It is surprising how poorly some professional productions cover this aspect of the sport, almost as if they are deliberately giving up on audio entertainment.
@hillclimbandsprintyoutube.Ай бұрын
I completely agree. They then give thier options over the top that usually display a lack of knowledge of both the sport and the cars
@markholroyde9412Ай бұрын
Its ridiculous, their stupid voice volume is set on 11, the ambience of the engines is set at 2, the noise of BSB and GP bikes is unreal live, those bastards turn it of so they can keep up their self imposed self importance, modern Motorsport is as dull as dishwater. Well done on this vid.
@gothicpagan.666Ай бұрын
Would be interesting to know who and what is responsible for the upsurge in competitiveness of the Anglias. In some previous championships they can run a Cosworth MAE. They are now seemingly quicker than an Imp, the 101 Alfa's have run out of development for now
@hillclimbandsprintyoutube.Ай бұрын
In the 70s my dad used Anglia for rallying.. most used the 1500 pre crossflow engine though he had one fitted with the lotus twin cam engine. I am not sure what was in this one tbh. Although I am not sure of the final race position. The anglia appeared to be quicker than the cortina's on the day
@gothicpagan.666Ай бұрын
@@hillclimbandsprintyoutube. They run in the up to 1300 cc class. Only period parts can be used, or not very exacting copies, as long as it stays within the class limit. Most cars running today are much quicker than they were in period, unless in period they were cheating but never got caught 🧐🙂
