Nobody can move quite like Fred Astaire, I find myself going into a trance watching his feet and Ginger Rodgers did the same, only backwards as legend has it. 😊

Habían mejores bailarinas que Ginger Rogers, pero ninguna tuvo la química con Fred Astaire como ella.

Fred made smooth with Ginger, Eleanor, Rita and Cyd. Common denominator? Fred. His dedication to getting it right AND in one long shot set he and his partners apart from all others

The combined genius of Jerome Kern Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Do we have anything like them today? PS- Also a shout out to whoever made that dress.

Like 'Night and Day' the year before- a marvelously fluid and simple pas a deux topped off with an exquisite example of Fred's deflationary 'nonchalance', as if to bring us all gently floating back down to earth.

where again have you ever seen such elegance as in the Hollywood of the 1930s? and such dancing? so smooth, flawless, without any special effects... - not to mention Ginger's omg-beautiful dress!! - simply magical! I could watch them dance forever. those films back then, that was real art! I can't believe they will soon turn 90!

Jerome Kern, the ultimate American composer (1885-1945)
@joeherald73196 жыл бұрын
Agree. He had few equals. Fun fact. Jerry Garcia's real name was Jerome. He was named for Kern, his mother was a huge fan. There's a KZbin of him singing "Somke Gets In Your Eyes" from the movie "Smoke " It's a nice version.

Fred Astaire was one of the greatest dancers of all time - and a demanding perfectionist. They did so many takes of some of these numbers that Ginger's feet would sometimes actually be bleeding by the time they were finished. As the famous saying goes, she did everything Fred did only backwards and in high heels.

Wow. Great dance, but Ginger at 2:12 jumping up three steps with a half turn in heels and a full length dress? I wonder how many falls she took in rehearsal.
