You should have seen this mall in the mid 80's when it was always crowded with decent stores. Sad what it has become.
@CiaransWorldOfVideos28 күн бұрын
I live like 10 minutes away from there and the only stuff that still occupied are AMC Theatres and Crunch Fitness. They really could add some new stores to make it feel more alive again.

Bigger mall than Boulevard and Eastern Hills and actually has a food court (but no water fountains). Don't know what the guy who opened the skate park was thinking opening there but good to see some kids using it and also kids in the arcade. Looks to be about 20% occupancy at this juncture. Also, great to see there's no stinky soy candle store stinking up the entire mall, like at Eastern Hills- that odor still lingers to this day, even though that mall has been closed for months. Overall, this mall still appears to be in good physical condition and without the tell-tale roof damage, early warning water damage marks on the interior's ceiling. Parking lot also doesn't have the characteristic, mall in decline, parking lot pot holes, that are pervasive at Eastern Hills and Boulevard malls.Thanks for posting this. Good job.

It’s almost like going back in time to the 80s, but it’s missing something to give the feeling of going back in time to being in a mall in the 80s. I had to think a while to figure out what it’s missing, but I think I’ve figured it out. Neon storefront lights, lush plants including hanging plants, and people actually dressing up to go to a mall. In the 80s people actually put on their fashionable clothes to go to a mall. Today people just put on whatever is comfortable and frump it when going to a mall. And in the 80s malls with round columns would actually have circular neon lights around the columns. In this mall the architecture is 80s-ish, but the lack of plants and lack of neon makes gives it a sterile feel. In contrast malls in the 80s had a warm energy and fertility about them. They gave off energy instead of sucking it out of you.
@jenniferburchill365827 күн бұрын
I actually think that sterility you describe is one of many factors that led to the demise of malls.

Kyle, have you ever considered narrating your mall videos? For instance, explaining the history of a mall, change in ownership, etc. The reason I’m saying this is because not everyone is going to enjoy whatever music you choose. Narrating the video balances things out.

BKs newly built box locations with some of the old retro colors, style and logo is acceptable. They’re embracing their 70s vibe versus McDonald’s leaving their history and style behind…. The taste and smell of BK food is also better than McDump.

Canadian shoppers have been helping this mall thrive since opening in 1989. It gets something like 23 million shoppers/year. My Dad took me and my brother there a dozen times in the first year of opening because of Babbages which had the best selection of computer software, games without having to drive to Toronto. Many malls have been built and closed in Buffalo/ Western NY but Walden Galleria will continue to thrive. It's in the most central location with good highway access, not far from the Canadian border, and close to the airport.

amazes me that morons would invest in all of these failing businesses inside of an absolutely failing mall. their failing business concepts boggle my mind more. "Our business sucks, lets sign up for extreme rent pricing in a mall that sees sub-100 people a day who are walking the tiles so they don't die immediately..."the kingston collection tenant meathads, 2024."

Of all the places where I’d expect to see a thriving mall, in the era of dead and dying malls, Buffalo isn’t one of them. Glad to see it though. I think people who make dead mall videos need to occasionally do a video on a thriving mall as a point of reference. Thank you.

Given it's harsh winter weather I would expect it would be doing well.

Everything about this video is terrible. Starting with the outdated inappropriate text font that washed out against the background (Should have used a dark colored and less antiquated stylized font) at the very beginning of the video. This was followed immediately by the sudden horrible music selection. (Poor song choice but should have faded into it either way) Continuing with poor cinematography that bounces, pauses unnecessarily, and lurches. Get a gimbal or turn on the "steady" feature of the camera. The text at the beginning gave a little snippet of the history but then nothing more throughout the video. The randomly inserted still images should have been placed when you were in front of that area of the mall, not just sporadically. Further if you're going to insert still images, you have done it throughout the video not just randomly in one portion. This was the 1st time watching one of your videos, so it's my hope that your video quality improves!
