Ustinov is brilliant of course, but Mike Wallace is probably one of the best interviewers there has ever been.

These are some annoying questions, Mike. It's like he's trying to find out "who is Tennesee Williams?" It would be more fruitful to talk about his method, or what he finds inspiring, or fascinating.

they both ended up cheating on each other. pride and ego really ruins marriage. Just because it's an artist world doesn't make it glamorous or excusable.
@rich8880Ай бұрын
Wallace doesn't understand, in his right-wing view, what an artist does. An artist finds his lane and sticks with it.

I find it ironic that Mike Wallace is giving Williams a hard time for being "obsessed" with violence. Says the newsman... ha!

I’m studying to be a playwright.. I read about all playwrights and what it takes too become one … for me it’s all about imagination.. my mind is always at work about the life of a character and how can I bring that character too life on paper and how to build the scene to explode at the climax down too the end…

I don't believe dear Oscar gets enough credit for advancing American musical theatre as an art form. He was so far ahead of many of his peers in terms of racial attitude and social views, incorporating pointed discourse on bigotry, racism, and inequality in his work at a time when most impresarios on Broadway wouldn't touch such themes with a barge pole! Plus, he mentored one of Broadway's all-time great minds, the inimitable Stephen Sondheim!

Excellent interview. Tennessee was very erudite and patient while being grilled by Wallace, who seemed to dwell on quoting his critics. I have always admired Eugene O’Neill and Tennessee , who explore the rapacious foibles, frailties and faults of us all, which often results in an epiphany of tender compassion, despite tragedy and struggle .
"Enhanced Sound" is an understatement ... Thank you sir.

Mr. William had the courage to show human nature in all its ugliness and. Keats wrote and I am paraphrasing, "truth is beauty, beauty is truth , that is all ye know, that is all ye need know". That phrase has been debated since then. He lived in the romantic era and that explains much of his writing. We all must decide how to deal with the vagaries of life.

It is after all highly amusing following so many interviews of Sir Peter Ustinov circling round the stupidity and conventions of our societies. He also could have been visited by the PR guys of the Lemmings planning department as to what kind of boots he prefers for the walk over the cliff. And he knew it every second. What a soul and spirit of a man still ever trying to make up our minds. ♥️

Such nice audio quality! With the audio imperfections aside, a character emerges from Jung's voice, which was left covered throughout all those previous recordings I have heard. And it's mesmerising! Thank you for your efforts in processing the material and making it available to the public.

Thanks for your explanation of this painting. I'm interested in the scenes Van Gogh painted of provence: orphaned age two, i climbed a very long, dangerous path that took decades to learn my bloodline long ago Provence. Paintings with meaning to me draw my interest. Thanks.

All these mental gymnastics and verbal legerdemain to "prove" God when he could have just shown himself to all just like he allegedly did to Jacob et al... I mean why not come up and wrestle Russel to show us how he lost against Jacob.... but to add insult to injury... they are not just trying to prove a creator... noooo... they are trying to prove a creator who prefers a Sumerian wife peddler above all of humanity and who prescribes voodoo rituals and proscribes witches and HAD TO insert himself in a young MARRIED descendant of said Sumerian in order to sit there 9 months twiddling his thumbs then slither out and yet again do nothing for 30 more years... not even lift a finger to stave off the extirpation of children in his stead because he had avarice for gold and could not devise a working GPStar.

Many prominent figures in science, art or politics are well known to society, but Carl Jung not so much. Yet, his work and his attitude is so precious, so profound. I don't think people understand how great he is. He is a giant, like a shining star, forever and ever.

Anyone who can use " inquisitorial " in a sentence is educated in my book! I adored Ustinov from the moment I discovered him. A raconteur par excellence, writer, actor and bon vivant. A true original. ( This interview was during the quiz show scandal that evolved from Twenty-one and 64,000 Dollar Question. )
