I'm planning a siege battle for my next DnD sessions, all I need are three Ballistas. Pleas tell me you are gonna do it sometime in the future. Your videos have been incredibly helpfull!!!

Outstanding build my only suggestion change would be to add arrow slits to the towers as they would be essential to helping defend the gate

Just subscribed. Excellent tutorial! At 16:09, what are you using that bigger building for? A manor, or something else?
@CommonersCraftАй бұрын
Thank you! I just use it for whatever bigger building makes sense in my DnD game :)

Wow, fantastic tutorial. I really like the idea of using cardboard instead of XPS, because cardboard just happens to be the material I have the most these days, after our recent move. It turned out beautifully! Do you have plans to make any other desert structures, like a tower fort, or a city gate, a granary, a small palace or anything along those lines? Thanks for making and sharing this wonderful video! PS. I’m actually going to make the doors in my buildings replaceable for high tech (Sci-Fi) settings. Any suggestions?
@CommonersCraftАй бұрын
Thanks, and cardboard is free so there's that :) I do plan on making more when I have time, maybe some bigger buildings or walls/towers. Could make an entire city of this, would look good!

Let's the light in without letting the nosy neighbors satisfy their curiosity. Overall it's quite a tall house. But then again, realistic scaling isn't necessarily the best policy.

i think a lot of times people forget how much solid cardboard is than foam for crafting.

It really is, especially if you glue two layers together. And it's free!

I think your approach with the ram roof is excellent. All I would do is dry brush the hell out of it with a different brown to bring it all together. The method is similar to "leopard spotting" for rocks and natural stones, where you use strong and different spot colours as a base, followed by a messy and heavy dryrbrush. The end result is still incredibly impressive and you should be proud. Not many people have built a chain swinging battering ram for their castle walls!!!
@CommonersCraft4 ай бұрын
Thanks, those are actually great tips! I wanted to use a similar skin effect on a siege tower that I plan to build, so I'll try it for sure in the future :)

@CommonersCraft4 ай бұрын
Hey, no problem, it's definitely similar and I looked at a lot of different sources to get inspiration for making my own. I hope I just offered an alternative so you can make them by painting the terrain instead, but I certainly don't want to claim I invent anything on this channel (I'm just sharing my process)

The dry brushed edges pop nicely. I sometimes glue a heavy nut or washer in the base which keeps them from tipping over. 👍🏻
