Hi great video . Can you tell me are the magnets glued in place in a super mag ?
@brucesr87444 жыл бұрын
super mag has magnets, N52, pressed into place. I use a special metric drill and press the magnets. The drilled out holes are extremely tight.

Hi, do you currently have a complete Penn Super Extra (Knobby) available to the UK. Best regards, Len
@brucesr87444 жыл бұрын
sorry for late reply, youtube doesn't notify me of questions. Order the endplate from Rich on ebay, it's 50.00 I buy mine from him. Please note, you can add 4 extra magnets to the mag holder for extreme stopping if need be like with heavy leads. I set them up with 12 N52 magnets, customers have said the like it.

do you have a website with parts and services?

Wondering the same thing.
@brucesr87444 жыл бұрын
no web site, may start one but it's a boutique business and makes no profits. I put too much time into the reels, 12 hours, to make money. Parts from Mystic parts in NJ or Richie reels on UK ebay. I get my parts from both.

plan on doing a video of polishing the part in the future? I want to used the same thing you did.

Very nice job. I have a slide mag made in USA and mine is brand new. Had it for years, still in box and never been fished with. Frightened to use it to be honest.

Great vid, I have a mint condition made in USA 525 mag xtra. Actually a great idea as you can set it up as you like, with the extra magnets you can piggy back and the extra abec 9 bearings that you can install. Can run any combination you desire. IMO these reels like the one I have and the beauty you have in this vid are the best looking, as they progressed they put gold accents on them and also red. The old school with the chrome handles are the bomb, more character and look tough. Cheers.

The 525 is only in foreign markets and version 2 and 3 aren't received as well as the original. I just got in a mag 4 version for the exam and test work. It's blue and black. costs about 220 plus 20-40 shipping to USA. The fathom seems to be well-liked with a metal frame. I have two versions of testing. It comes down to casting style.and bearings and knowing how to set the brakes for the weight being cast for best results. You have many choices. Here's a tip for saving money. Go to Amazon UK and order. Price and shipping is better.

I had grinding coming from my 525 took it apart and replaced the anti reverse bearings (they had rust in them) I watched this and the 2nd vid while putting it back together. What you have done looks INCREDIBLE! I have two of these both proper fishing reels, neither of them have ever cast quietly, can you tell if they should be silent or close too?
@brucesr87445 жыл бұрын
the spool bearing make the casting noise. rewinding noise is usually the iar bearing if rusty, or the pinion support bearing. always rinse the spool bearings with lighter fluid shake and turn the centers, repeat, repeat, dry on paper towel, blow out with air if available. if hybrids no oil, if stainless a drop of speedX or rocket reel co fluid. I get all my supplies from mystic reel parts in NJ. I had many hours of video for a series but an apple tech accidentally erased them when fixing a problem with my apps, I have to start over.

Can we buy these mono Magged side plates in the uk
@brucesr87445 жыл бұрын
yes, I bought 6 of them from rockfisher on ebay. search ebay for "penn 525" and check off "worldwide" on the left side options, they will pop up. Warning: all the crappy reels I've bought have come from UK They beat the crap out of gear and when resellers get it they turn the handle and if it turns it's a good reel.
@wgblues98875 жыл бұрын
Why in the name of Christ would you change the backplate for thats just utter nonsense.
@brucesr87445 жыл бұрын
when you build one you can choose from four colors. I used blue to match the spool and added a mini star too. polished stainless stars, chrome brake plate are heavy All black wasn't my interest.This piece is light, very light. I'm building another with red ends and a very expensive Japanese handle.
