Why do some of them have tails some don't?
@dakotasnider24682 жыл бұрын
Most breeders dock them, the main reason was because their tail would get damaged when herding livestock. But now it’s kind of a standard for working or not
@shellmora2 жыл бұрын
@@dakotasnider2468 Their tails are so beautiful and fluffy. It's such a shame that it's standard. Poor babies.
@cashewbutter9432 жыл бұрын
Some are also born with bobtails. The docking is done at birth and it doesn’t hurt them when done properly
@shellmora2 жыл бұрын
@@cashewbutter943 That wasn't my point. The point is through selective breeding,short tails or "Bob tails" can be in some way natural to the dog. But deliberately cutting them off with bands for OUR PREFERENCE is where I personally draw the line.

How come your dog has no tail? My Aussie's tail is bushy and about three feet long.
@charlie41125 жыл бұрын
Aussies are one of the few breeds that can produce both full tails and natural bobbed tails
@charlie41125 жыл бұрын
However if this dog was born with a full tail or one longer than a bob then it could also be docked if it's legal in the state.
@vizziddog59044 жыл бұрын
It’s a breed standard if she is from a show breeder it was probably docked at birth, the reason for docking aussies tails is because when they were herding cattle and sheep they’re tails would often get stepped on my cattle breaking them so they have generally very fragile tails so it’s a precaution
@kkittycatkat19902 жыл бұрын
I don't approve of docking any dogs tail. Its doubtful that this dog is doing any herding and should not be a show dog requirement! I hope her tail was naturally bobbed to begin with. I'm adding here that people who declaw cats are horrible human beings. You're essentially cutting their knuckles off and it is extremely painful for them, I suggest watching some videos or reading about this horrific abuse. This was a good video! I have a Border Collie Australian Shepherd Cross and he's amazing! Hates his tail touched. I rescued him around 5 years old. He was abused and I couldn't touch him from the head down. Now, he's a whole different doggy. 💛 Be kind to animals. They are gifts from God.

I understand this is a grooming video (& the groomer is doing an excellent job) but I'm wondering if the dog gets a break from standing still in that position for so long? Maybe they edited the breaks? 🤔 I know the dog wasn't "harmed" & is very loved & well cared for so I'm not being dramatic. I'm sincerely curious bc this is something I've worried about when having my dogs groomed. I've since learned to do it myself as they've gotten older so that I can break up the grooming process into less taxing segments.

Birdie Jeffers from personal experience my friends golden retriever just stands there for like 30 min and doesn’t even care so it might just be the personality

Appreciate the careful, slow gentle strokes. watched a couple videos & couldn't stand how much discomfort (actual peon that little bitch was in) slow & steady gets a stunning finish. Beautiful! Now to get my Aussie pup used to my grooming table! :)

put on leash then put second leash around pelvis to cue them to remain standing.
@mstrubluawesee3 жыл бұрын
You really have to be careful putting a leash around the pelvis. Dogs have been know to jump and the leash in that area can do internal damage. Not safe. Just sayin'

The undercoat rake is our best friend when we groom Millie our miniature Australian Shepherd. She gets brushed with it about everyday. Mostly because we like to keep her coat long. Also she has sensitive skin so we have to use this special oatmeal and aloe detergent free shampoo on her (we buy it at the vets.)
