Nice basic design but 2 no-no's for woodworking 101. #1, don't glue lumber to plywood. It won't stay flat for long and can split. #2, don't glue lumber cross-grained across a solid lumber table top. Looks good when it's new though. You might disagree but I'm 5th generation woodworker and have been doing this myself for 55 years. Sooner or later this will bite you.

Ich frage mich immer wieder, wie die Leute es geschafft haben vor der Elektrizität mit Holz zu arbeiten. Achso mit viel Handarbeit und Zeit. Und ohne Maschinen. Das war dann echtes Handwerk! :)
@alekom6122Күн бұрын

He's using the tools that he has at his grasp. The one thing a workshop can't do without is an organized work-station. I have 20 years experience, and I started with building closet shelves. Storage, and work-stations are immeasurably important. Nothing was done in this video that can't be done by hand. The tools just do what tools are built for; speed up the process. Festool's dust collection is INTENSE too. Well done, sir. Good build. Don't let these nay sayers bring you down.

So, what is this one thing no workshop can do without?? Ah, I see! It's a bench/table/worksurface. Just the thing to show off your F tool collection to the great unwashed.

I am also curious about that solution with evaporating. I now use different kinds of vinegar with steel wool. Pine I treat with tea first to make it darker. But, for example, chestnut wood turns black with just a vinegar-steel wool solution. I think oak also gets very dark. But I haven't seen this with the “tent” before and am curious about your vaporization solution.

@ I’ve tried to use vinegar with innox steel sponge, but it’s not dissolved yet))) I suppose the innox not suitable for it. What steel you have used?
@Cornelis-Dz4 күн бұрын
@@dmitryefremov7827 The package says steel wool type 0000. This is the finest steel wool available. You can use it with wine vinegar, alcohol vinegar or apple cider vinegar. It gives different results. Put some vinegar in a jar and add some steel wool and let it stand for a few days. Letting it stand shorter or longer also affects it again. So don't do a piece today and in a week the rest. Don't, so don't, put the lid on tightly. If you precoat your wood with tea and let it dry first, you will get different results. You have to experiment a little with it. I made a wooden (pine) wall with various colors. 1 euro steel wool and a few euros for the vinegar. I then also rubbed everything with denisch oil will which gave me nice deep colors.
@dmitryefremov78274 күн бұрын
@Cornelis-Dz thank you. What’s the percentage of vinegars you have used?
@Cornelis-Dz4 күн бұрын
@@dmitryefremov7827 Acidity of apple vinegar is 5%, and wine and alcohol vinegar it is 6%. Don't think 5 or 6 is very important.

As much as I love the work being carried out, as soon as I see piles of Festool gear, it puts me off the videos. W’ed all love the many festool tools that are out there they are unfortunately as already said way o way out of 90% of keen trades men or just anyone that loves making things from wood ,that said in my case it probably largely due to jealousy (I have to be honest) but, the better the tool usually the better the project ends up. I’ve been learning for 30 years now and never been able to afford but , I’d like to think my projects turn out almost as well if not the same 🥴???. If festool would like to prove me wrong I’m more than open to them sending me a few items just to see. Keep at it you wonderful wood people, the finished result is always worth the blood sweat and tears, I think ?

@@garyhill1668 I don't know about the newer power tools being key to great projects ...some of my tools are at least 60 years old and I build some pretty good products. The old timers way back had no power tools to talk about doing almost everything by hand and turned out beautiful work. I don't think any wood worker needs a square that's within I/1000th most craftsmen can't cut that close, and all this craze with every tool being battery powered even inside the shop is beyond me..... everything in my shop is corded even my drills, I have a few cordless tools that I use in simple jobs out from the shop if it involves a lot of sawing etc I have generations
