Hi, yes you are correct to some point. I've played bass for many many years. I'm one of the different bass plays I use all four fingers to play the strings. I like it gives me more options. But not for everybody it take practice to do it. Thanks

More experienced 2-finger pluckers neither extend nor pull in the 3rd and 4th. Those fingers are placed on the strings and used to damp. It's a skill in itself. Another use for the 3rd is to pluck with the 2nd for a fatter sound. I wouldn't just do nothing with them like this guy says.
