Clever to home make the siphon point and brilliant piece of footage I've been chasing of real world results of this system in an actual tank with sediment. Lots of claims that it'll chew through 30cm of sediment. Which I don't doubt next to the pipe. But my interest that been with the rest of the floor which despite the amount of water you dumped. It only cleaned local to the holes in the pipe. Next step for me would be maybe testing what happens if you swirl the water entering the tank. Will the sediment be aggressively disturbed or can you just gradually push it around to pile up against the pipe. Then just have the intake hole predominately on that side. Thank you for up loading this video!

What an ingenious piece of equipment - a glimpse into the effort & expertise required to create items in days gone by, ably demonstrated here by another of Clifton Museum Queensland's multi-skilled volunteer members. Thank you, John & and Ian, for giving us this insight into how it was done 😀 👏

Good that these old machines are kept in working order. My grandfather had a Sunshine horse-drawn binder in the 1950s, later pulled by a tractor.

I am very happy with the bike everything works well it's a pleasure to ride. The build is top quality, nothing looks cheap about it. Top speed about 24 kmph. Get one..Cheers.

Im glad no one ever painted it. They are best in original condition. Paint should only be used in full restoration projects. It can ruin the look of a nice working machine. Nice unusual machine thanks for showing. It would be interesting to see it working.

@@billkitto i had a look at that thanks. Interesting to see different methods being used. I assume that it is a stripper harvester. Stripper headers where used by some farmers in the 90s here in England. They never really seemed to take off. I haven't heard about them for years now.

Was this the machine that had no cutter bar, but just stripped the heads off and relied on the serrated auger to cut the heads off and fee them into the feeder house?
@billkitto
@billkitto 3 жыл бұрын
No. It has a cutter bar. Have a look at my video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpS7nniepdCUeq8 at 1:27 where you can see the cutting bar mechanism moving backwards and forwards on the left hand side of the comb.

Great to see this machine saved and running again! Most have been scrapped. The engine sounds great. I believe the first ones used a Fordson engine.

It is great to see an icon of Australian design and manufacture still in running condition after some 85 years. You need to pass on the operating technique to the younger generation before it is lost forever.
