This is so well explained thank you! One question though, why was the carboxylate from Asp375 able to act as a base and strongly enough to induce an unstable enol of acetyl-coa? If the all the carboxylates of citrate will only exist deprotonated at physiological pH, why is Asp able to perform that action and how does it get rid of that hydrogen to start a new cycle?
