I've watched all four parts and your explanations are so clear for someone like me without a life science background to understand. I'm taking a cell biology module this semester and even life science majors find it extremely tough and for me without much background knowledge in biochemistry this video series has been a lifesaver! Thank you so much for your work!

The intermemebrane space is not the space between two phospholipid layers of the inner membrane but the space bw the inner and outer mit membranes, each of which has a lipid bilayer.

Shouldn't the enzyme that converts glycerol-3-P into dihydroxyacetone phosphate be "glycerol 3 phosphate dehydrogenase"?
@stressedstudents4 күн бұрын
@@martaelizabeterozite6207 yes, that is correct. The video has a typo. It should be glycerol not glyceraldehyde.

What happens to the ubinquinol formed in the Q cycle at the end?
@stressedstudents7 күн бұрын
@@Anurag9344-q1i QH2 is simply the reduced form of Q. Once the Q Cycle is completed, the Q is regenerated and it may now once again act as an electron carrier within the Electron Transport Chain. Q will accept electrons from Complex 1 and Complex 2, become reduced to QH2 and begin Q cycle.

This is so well explained thank you! One question though, why was the carboxylate from Asp375 able to act as a base and strongly enough to induce an unstable enol of acetyl-coa? If the all the carboxylates of citrate will only exist deprotonated at physiological pH, why is Asp able to perform that action and how does it get rid of that hydrogen to start a new cycle?
