I got the pleasure of seeing paddy do this live in Coventry as a set with the dublin legends. Truly mesmerising and had a decent crowd speechless

long time since Jimmy. sorry I missed your farewell. I was often on the opposite side of the table when you represented workers. but you were a joy to work with and it was so nice to deals with you. Still missing the pints and craic we shared over the years. RIP miss you. Joe Shortall

What's the problem of people laughing at this song? Are they idiot? It's basically a very sad song... It talks about an hero woman who tried to change the world and was locked for the rest of her life...

I grew up with a meaningless disdain for when Americans claimed Irish, now it makes me so proud of my own Irishness whenever an American shares their own pride of the Irish in them

I can't get over this!! I babysitted paddy Kelly's kids in 1970. I never knew he sang, I almost sat on Luke many a time when I tried to sit in rge settee, hed be there kipping from time to time, a big shock for me being a 11yr old. If only I knew then what I know now.

Living a town over, everytime I listen to this song, I make a note and lay a Calla Lily there in Kingsthorpe. Wonderful song from a wonderful artist, I could sit and listen to Lisa talk and sing for days and days.

Gibson was a communist, suffered severe ill health throughout her life. She had a nervous breakdown in 1922; she was declared insane and committed to a mental institution for two years. She attempted suicide in Rome in early 1925. What a failure of a woman.
