On The Wall album by Pink Floyd, there's a line in a song that asks, Does anyone here remember Vera Lynn and how she said that we'd meet again some sunny day? I asked my dad if he knew her. Of course, he said, everybody knew her. She was famous amongst the Canadian soldiers.

I will say this again, she was so loved that you would think she landed on the beaches of Normandy with the first wave. Yet her job was just as important as the fighting troops.
