This is one reason why F1 was better before - brundle in his car had to pre-qualify for this race but qualified 4th on the grid! Another reason is ( of course ) the sound; I count myself fortunate to have seen and heard these cars and the huge wall of noise when they went past made F1 a very special and spectacular experience - sadly lacking today.

Had Hunt let pass Andretti because Mario`s car was much faster he probably would have won this race: because Andretti`s engine blew up.

Fascinating, I always wanted to know at which point Schumacher retired. He made it just past Eau Rouge and Raidillon, then slowed down to a stop and pulled over to the right. Shame we couldn’t even have a full lap of his debut in that beautiful Jordan.

That podium or maybe even a possible win for Jordan could have changed the history of F1, just imagine the partners/sponsors that would have been coming out clamouring to do deals with this new exciting team. They didn't do too badly anyway especially in 1999 but 1992 onwards could have been very different if the car had just made it home. Eddie Jordan did an amazing job with very little budget and a tiny team, he was really the last privateer to manage it and ultimately win races, sadly I don't think we'll ever see another team like Jordan and F1 is poorer because of it.

5.49 Derek Daly actually regains the circuit after going straight on at Abbey - that's why he reappears behind Han Stuck in 2nd place a bit later on, rather than being in 2 places at once to confuse Murray 😊

Daly went out on lap 1. It was Davina Galicia borrowing Dalys helmet in second place.

@@philandrews5686 No, look at the timestamp I highlighted, Daly gets back on the circuit and continues, that's why it Daly's helmet because it's Daly inside the helmet

Looks like Mansell got a snap of oversteer on the way into the corner (possibly over a bump) and then just understeered off the track. Probably because of a lack of aerodynamic downforce with being so close behind Senna. I don't think it was a lack of concentration, more a consequence of an unpredictable loss of downforce. The gravel in those days was deep and loose, no chance of driving through, or out of it.

This was my first full season I ever watched. I remember this race .... 6:47 I love how Alboreto basically stuck his middle finger up at Ferrari by bringing in the car on fire! That 1985 season reminds me a lot of Ferrari today, started very strong but was very slow to develop the car, and was very quickly overtaken by Williams and Lotus. 😂

It was the penultimate one. Canadian GP was held three weeks later and Hunt died two days after that.
