We tried so hard! We spent a lot of time trying to get the video just right for the podcast, but it was just too crammed to fit everything in the video. If we had more time to plan we would have done it differently, but Luke leaves for Oregon in 6 days so we had to do it now! Maybe we will have them back and do just a video for KZbin next time!

It takes a lot of courage to admit such a painful story. It's been 15 years since i divorced from a unfaithful woman and it still causes me pain.

Thanks for listening to our podcast...and thanks for reaching out! We understand the pain and devastation that is caused by an affair. We are so sorry that you have walked the journey of an unfaithful spouse and a divorce. Although we don't know you, we just stopped and prayed for you! Here is an older episode that we did a while back that might encourage you... www.theredeemedmarriage.com/podcast/episode-16-when-you-cant-comeback/

I have one thought about the value of a full disclosure that I don't see discussed. If the disclosure is missing elements, usually in the name of sparing pain to the betrayed spouse, then the betraying spouse may question whether forgiveness and love are real. Along the lines of "if he/she knew everything, they couldn't forgive or love the real me". The pain of a full disclosure is real and a hard consequence to the betrayed spouse but I think it essential to the healing process.
@theredeemedmarriage11 ай бұрын
Great points! The "missing elements" would really just be in the details. You are right...fully disclosing all of the major points of the betrayal is a must.

In my opinion to have good relationships with your in-laws and Parents, they have to be flexible and understanding. If you always want to celebrate your holidays or events your way and don't consider what other people can do or can't do is a disaster and that is how tensions get created. Especially when extended family guilt you shame you blame you blaming the spouse in law. Parents and in-laws that are rigid to their own expectations and the way it has to be they are the ones that are missing out in long term because they push you away by their behavior and their lock of understanding you and give you room and flexibility to compromise instead blame and shame

This topic is a lot like the submission topic. You HAVE to explain what you mean and what that really looks like, and I’m glad you have done that. I saw that question on Facebook and it was like a kick in the gut. I couldn’t respond. I watched my mom put my stepdad first for 30 years and keep his secrets and lie for him while he abused us. Then after 30 years he ran off with a younger woman and all 6 of us kids, his and hers, had to find forgiveness in our heart for her so that we could take care of her because she needs us now. Even though she never protected us. There are some folks out there so wounded that when you bring up a topic like this, this is what comes to mind for them. I appreciate you explaining what it really means to you. Maybe some of the negative responses were deeply wounded people. Again, very grateful that you are able to clarify what “putting the spouse first” truly should mean.

Gosh. I love y’all, but I have to comment. You wanna know why many people don’t tell what is going on in their life? Because 99% of people are only going to gossip! I know y’all know how juicy the gossip was after August 26, 2011. Gossip is a sin and it destroys the community relationships we are supposed to have as believers to be able to confide in each other. But I have found these days that you just can’t. Too many people get enjoyment out of talking about you behind your back. And finding the 1% who might not, is dang near impossible. I’m also one of those who is a “Tom boy” and can’t stand trying to be friends with women. Thank heavens I grew up with brothers and I have a wonderful husband. So no problem having other men around. I’m glad you guys have mentors you trust. But some of us know that what most people are going to do is spread any info you tell them, so we just keep our stuff to ourselves and talk to Jesus about it. 🤐😉
@theredeemedmarriage2 жыл бұрын
You are certainly not wrong! We have definitely been the topic of gossip, so we know how that feels. We are fortunate to have sought out and found trustworthy friends and mentors over the last 10 years and it has been such a blessing. As hurt as we were, we found that there are still great people out there willing to love us as Christ does. Sometimes those people are hard to find, though! You said it right when you said that gossip “destroys the community relationships that we are supposed to have as believers.” We pray that we can be a small agent of change in this area for the body of believers. If nothing else, we want to always be a trustworthy couple for those out there looking for someone to talk to. Thank you for sharing your heart!
