I love her solo work but this is rather extreme so it's back to Vronsky and Babin.

I prefer this interpretation to most. His sense of timing is sublime. The spark of fury keeps this from wallowing. A strong performance.

Her playing of Rachmaninoff is beyond anything. Her conceptions are so original that I often want to argue with her choices, but she is so immensely persuasive that I am just swept away.

Why so fast? The first movement is marked allegro, not allegro agitato or allegro molto. Geez, people. And the pianist speeds up during the sixteenth note passages. Awful. In the second movement - also too fast - at 10:58, the pianist re-enters early. Obviously he is not counting - or doesn't know how to count. I feel sorry for the string players having to put up with this titillated individual. At 11:48, they all enter early after the silences, most likely due to the pianist. And again at 12:34. And yet again at 16:20. This is unlistenable. It keeps getting worse. The third movement is also too fast. It is Allegretto in 2/2 meter. And the sudden forte at 17:38 is truly hideous. The triplets at 18:08 sound ridiculous. The added notes at 23:15 are atrocious. Nice going, Kemal. A note to Mr. Monsaingeon - Mlle. Boulanger would be appalled at this disregard for the composer's intentions.

Bravos for thiis wonderful rendition of this marvellous piece.
This is an incredible piece and beautifully performed -- I don't want to be misunderstood! But isn't this actually more of an "arrangement" of the abridged original orchestral piece rather than a transcription of it?

Where did you come from? 🎉what a treasure! I’m a composer and jazz musician, both. 82 years young. My father saw Rachmaninov in recital in Buffalo NY IN 1927. My family was an American working class family, but deeply devoted to music…. I grew up hearing the 78 rpm recordings of Rachmaninov performing his concertos……etc
