With relation to my last comment, I suppose they could have moved the station opposite where Tesco is now so that the bus station and railway station would be side-by-side to make a perfect interchange.

Unfortunately, because of the lack of importance of the railways in our society, within the UK; Swansea missed a trick here because, once they realised the heart of the city was moving down into the old Duckland area they could have made a good businesscase to reroute the main line down to the docks where.the Waterfront museum is now, and put a terminal station there. Like a brand-new Grand Central Station. Many cities have done this And just recently Belfast is the latest in the UK to do so. Unfortunately, we could not now make a business case for that as too much of the land has been built up and the cost would be horrendous. Any comments on this would be very welcome.

I’m not sure of my facts here but didn’t Grovesend steelworks come after Gorseinon station. I’m too new to the area to know for certain so I’d be glad of your comment. Thanks.

As a child I travelled this line with my parents, I still recall the magic of the journey along the bay, up through Clyne and onwards to distant lands; a great shame it was closed.

my grandpa was a driver on the GWR and later BR Western Region. He did this line occasionally and said the climb up from Blackpill to Dunvant could be tricky when there were wet leaves on the line. Sometimes they had to roll back to Blackpill and take "running jump" at it

I grew up in the Bont during the 1960s and 70s. It was a great place to be a kid with so much countryside and farming around there.

I cannot believe you have not got more views on this. Thank you for sharing. Living in the Bont I am very proud of the History of the Rebecca Riots. This is the best Rebecca Riots video I have watched because it is giving a full explanation. And it mentions the Bible, and where Rebecca no doubt came from. This History must never be forgotten as sadly the working class people today are still not getting the support they deserve because of Elites in power. When I moved from England to Wales, my neighbour educated me about the Welsh NOT. Something I was not taught in school. The thought of children being punished/beaten for speaking their own language broke my heart. Sadly, the Education System is still flawed today. But I hope to help change that as a team player. :) We are very lucky in the Bont because we have Councillor Kevin Griffith's who is a real life HERO of today. He goes above the call of duty to help our children, families and TOWN. I do hope everyone will vote for him this MAY 2022. This is how a Government Service should act!

Thanks for the wonderful video. We have the best Councillor in the WORLD in Pontarddulais, Councillor Kevin Griffiths. I wish more Government Services were like him. Kevin goes above and beyond to help our children, families, and town. Kevin funded my daughter to teach art to children locally in 2019, and Elim Church gave our Melody the room for free. We have some very kind people in the BONT! I hope people will vote for Councillor Kevin Griffiths this May 2022, as he is a real life HERO.

Phil, thank you so much. Around 1970, my friend and I would be following the tracks up to the damn and the train would stop and give us a ride. We had to hang out of the door to avoid coal fumes. On the way, the train would stop and deliver groceries to the cottages past upper mill road, because there was no road, only a train track.

I love this colliery. The 1973 documentary with the wonderful music is outstanding. There's also the Austerity series. Can't seem to find where the line crosses the main road on recent maps.
