Just swap Pluck of Many with Life Stranding for an extra life and with the right soaks, you will have a lot of HP regeneration and extra gourd uses even after dying. That's what I used. I have used in in NG+3 and still managed to kill him with it. It takes longer than what you see in the video though, because of the higher HP he has. However, be aware than certain attacks might 1 shot you due to the negative damage reduction value of the build. It is worth changing the Pluck of Many for the Life Stranding spell. In all honesty, for better and easier wins against him in anything above NG+2, I would recommend my Rock Solid build instead as with life stranding and the right soak and drink, you basically have 2 lives and a lot of mana available for many rock solids. But I can't deny I have a soft spot for Yaksha's armour set with Erlang's Spear, using thrust stance, with all the duplicates copying the heavy attack with 4 focus charge after an immobilised. Instant death on any boss.

Not needed for this build. With Erlang's Spear, smash stance is not necessary. I have other builds on the channel using the smash stance as you can see. But for The Great Sage boss fight, I do believe Erlang's Spear is the best choice due to how good the instantaneous attack with 4 focus heavy attack after a dodge is! He can't avoid it, does a ton of damage and stuns/interrupts him. But smash stance is still my favourite. Just not the best choice for the Great Sage in my opinion in NG. Also a suggestion that you should try this spear with Pilgrim's armor set since it helps in quickly generating the focus points. It has been very helpful to me.

@BenLiuChungHin that reveals two things: your playstyle revolves entirely around running around and using smash heavy attacks and requires the use of lots of spells. And that's fine. But that is not a playstyle I would encourage anyone to use for various reasons. Upgrading armour is also NOT important, as the game will actually give you better armour options as you progress, meaning that upgrading armour you already have, is not really necessary. Unless, of course, your playstyle revolves around that specific armour, such as the pilgrims. Now, here is the thing: most players do not wish to simple run around, charging their heavy attacks and smash. Like myself, for example. I tried that and it was boring, not fun or challenging at all and (in my opinion) requires zero skill to use. With my opinion I'm mind, I offered the advice on the video. You are of course entitled to disagree and that is totally fine, but when it comes to the brew? The standard brew sucks??? It gives you 10 uses when fully upgraded. It's the only one that does that. The next best one, give you 8. That is two less heals. Heals that, with the right drink and soaks, will easily restore 60% of your HP back. For what? For some mana? So you can cast more spells? What good are those spells if you're dead? And I have seen this first hand. I have helped more than 400 people via share play and they all agreed in the end that having the good heals and extra gourd uses was way better than getting a little bit of mana back. @ink_well1647 I do feel the game is a little slow on responding to button input at times. Especially with pills and the group, but dodging can also be slightly late to respond at times too. So, don't fully blame yourself here. The game has flaws. However, I have learned how to go around these flaws, such as spamming a certain button input at times, with pills for example, or just walking backwards to use the gourd just to be on the safe side that I will not get hit while trying 2 or 3 times bonuses the gourd. @ahmaditani2032 bro... you do understand that this video was made BEFORE NG+ was added to the game? Do you also understand this is in Give Me Balance difficulty? This build and video were recorded when the game was released. Before Runic Shields were added to the bosses with the release of the NG+ update, this build worked every single time. Now, with the changes that were implemented a year later, the bosses having the Runic Shield, makes things a little different. Because of this, I made an updated video called "The Destroyer Build 3.0". Also, I remind you, this was recorded in Give Me Balance difficulty

@zahirhamzah3440 because the ability is not activated by simply doing an heavy attack. To use the special ability of the tri-pointed spear or Erlang you must do a "varied combo" whilst having at least one focus point. A "varied combo" is performed by doing a heavy attack AFTER a light attack. You can do, for example light to heavy attack, or light attack, light attack, light attack and than a heavy attack. However, you must ensure two more things besides having the required focus points: 1) you are in thrust stance (press right arrow of your D-pad to swap to thrust stance) and 2) you must have invested sparks in the all thrust stance abilities to ensure maximum effectiveness and damage. @SmartHomeLearning that is why on one of my "Avoid these mistakes" videos, I mention the importance of not wasting crafting/upgrading materials on random stuff. I have seen people even wearing 4 pieces of upgraded mythical armour, but each piece from a different set. Wasting the potential to make powerful build as they just cared about the looks of the character and not so much about putting together armour pieces that actually give you some kind of boost or perk. It's it times like that I wish the YT algorithm was more kind to me so I could reach more and more people before such mistakes were made. 😅 Thanks for the support and for watching my content.
