As a keen follower of the microcomputer scene in 80's New Zealand I am super surprised to hear about the Polycorp Poly 1. Great video! I am off to see if I can find out more about this amazing looking machine.

I feel similar, I was introduced to Amiga A500 by my younger brother. It was an amazing machine! Chaos Engine, Lotus, Super Cars etc. All the best to you friend, from UK.
@gamingtonight152611 күн бұрын
Interesting, when it was the Atari ST that was mostly used for music, like being used in many sound studios, with its MIDI connection, etc! Amiga was used by Graphic Artists, rather than sound!
@1337Shockwav32 күн бұрын
It's a shame Cubase remained ST exclusive software, because then this silly "but the ST has Midi and was THE machine for musicians"-pseudoargument would collapse quite quickly. Just listen to 90s Eurodance/Rave - lots of Amiga there. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the Amiga plattform and prefer the ST, BUT I don't like redundant iterations of kindergarten style platform wars even less.

It's just still an emulation , for this price you can have the real one and experience the actual thing on a crt tv , here it's emulator with modified resolution on a flatscreen , i don't see the point except for people who weren't around in the 80s.
@francistaylor1822Ай бұрын
You may not see the point but a lot of people like retro remakes. I have a thec64 and a c64 and dont regret the convenience
@electro-soma29 күн бұрын
Given how this thing has flown off the shelves there is plenty of demand. Lots of 50+ folk have ordered one! Mine is due to arrive tomorrow. I no longer have a spectrum. I don't want a CRT. The Spectrum gives you the feel of the original. Emulators on computers are great but you don't get the Spectrum experience. It's what I've been waiting for. I had the original in the early 80s.
@MikkyTee29 күн бұрын
I have old hardware too, and crt's but i dont have the space to drag it all out and set it up if i want a quick blast. Also, have you seen how bad the picture is on a crt, even if you composite mod your old spectrum 48k? the dot crawl issues i had were terrible, the image was so bad i gave up in the end and just used my mister. Not to mention the chances of the old spectrum failing, which most do these days. Trust me, trying to repair these old computers is a total pain and can get expensive if you don't know what your doing. If you want to avoid all that hassle, its a no brainer to pick one up and have at it. Enjoy!
@francistaylor182229 күн бұрын
@@electro-soma exactly, some people are emulation snobs but you can be just an enthusiast and run a remake. Plus its better for older hardware as you dont risk having it fail
@phishwak29 күн бұрын
Have you seen the prices of the real ones ? Definitely more than this, then factor in at least a composite mod, maybe some refurbing (replacing caps etc) and something like a DivMMC and you're probably well over £200. By all means if you don't want one, don't get it.
@da5idnzАй бұрын
Hmmm, I was tempted, but at around NZ$250 I just can't justify it. If it were something like $150-$160 I'd buy it, but it's just too much. I've never seen or used a Speccy in my life (we had the C64) so I have nothing nostalgic to link it with. It would be more curiosity.
