very interesting rendition....the parts that stick out to me is the very staccato/syncopated chorus theme, and a very nice build up to the end..the trombone parts seem novel too (I love bass harmonies so im in favor)

Great sound pickup compared to the many other performances on You Tube. Love the tempo. The inherent excitement of the composition comes out best at this quick tempo; it doesn't need to be loud, rather an attitude thing. You can still value the softer melodies with their well chosen punctuations, which set up the louder sections. Clever injected melodies mid-piece, too, original idea to my ears, well articulated by the band. Not a difficult piece perhaps? Rather an attitude piece. Snare drum part offers much opportunity (I'm a snare drummer of sorts) to carry excitement underpinning appropriate quieter sections. I'd love to ad lib that part, but well conceived performance by your snare player. (Too bad the sound/picture sinc is not good enough.)

I'm playing this tomorrow in a concert, and thought I'd listen to this and watch through my part. Fantastic performance! I'm playing essentially what the percussionist running around playing vibes/xylophone/glock is doing. Plus tambourine as we don't have enough players to cover it. And skipping a few bars on vibes as I seriously can't get to them and back in time like this guy is doing! I see that he's moving his music between stands sometimes. I've found it easiest to have one part per stand, as I don't trust myself not to drop the music during the concert... And then I have highlighted and colour coded each instrument (obviously not on original parts). That helps particularly when I'm swapping between instruments as it is easy to lose your place on the page. I also have copious reminders and arrows and things like that to help me get my bearings when I swap over. Hard work!

Our badass high school band in 1978 played this at State Contest and got a ONE rating, the best you could be awarded. That one count silent gap towards the end was a test in how in sync everyone was, and we NAILED IT! We all knew at that point we had won, but we still had a few measures to go where we had to focus and bring it home. One of my greatest memories from band.😊

To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest to follow that star No matter how hopeless, no matter how far To fight for the right without question or pause To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause And I know if I'll only be true to this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To fight the unbeatable foe To reach the unreachable star

WOW, WOW, WOW. This was astonishing. I came across this because we are learning it and I personally needed a reference. This is exceptionally well played, i felt like i was at the Oscar's. I loved that trumpet solo "On a clear day" - warm and lovely slight vibrato. The sparse applause was dsiappointing as it deserved so much more. They have no idea how damn good this performance was. I was using this to play my 2nd horn part along on KZbin. It was like I was at rehearsal. The accuracy, tuing, timing was so good that I had to play the first half about 15x before I could get in the same space, timing, rhythm, and 80% of my bugs worked out. It was like a mentor!~. I have listened to this on different occasions and each time I come away a better player. I tell you, this was performed like a typical Hollywood concert / big band or TV orchestral - I felt right there. And hats off to the audio recording and even the video. The audio was especially good - clear, clean, no stuffiness or room echo. Don't know what mic you were using, but it is superb. The conducting, the players and the percussionists were simply fantastic . Tĥis should be your signature piece. BRILLIANT. Thank you Dave

Our song, in the Capitol Hill High School Class of 1967 graduation. This was in blue collar Oklahoma City. We young men had the draft coming. A certain number of us had few months before the war in Vietnam would try our bravery. By 1971, I was on campus, and saw a classmate who was living, on crutches, having lost a leg in the war. We lived the heroism and the sacrifice. Memories....
