Ok, cool because one thing that I keep bucking up against is that CentOS information is quite scattered at the moment when it comes to the site. 6:30 That is cool that RH will allow for that, BUT.... that sound awfully familiar to how CentOS use to work. Not sure how I feel about that. 11:40 I see that IRC doesn't want to go but other than that... this is good.

Very cool. I didn't know these WSL images.

I have been toying with this for a bit, it rather cool. It's nice that the guys here streamlined the process a bit (had to go digging for the Base image) so that it is easier.

This is how I found out nmstate exists. If it's really a declarative tool as described, then it means NetworkManager might finally be useable.

10:20 'You can't keep running everything forever' Context of the above being the abrupt 1 year end of life for CentOS 8. I agree, people shouldn't expect things to be around forever. This issue with the one year notice for CentOS 8 was that CentOS 8 had been out of just over one year when it end of life was brought forward from 2029 to 2021. The new end of life was announced a week after CentOS 6 stopped getting security patches. That's the 'sweet spot' for migrating to a new OS (its new, but bedded down enough the worst bugs have been worked out). Server admins around the world had spent that summer migrating boxes from the about-to-be-out-of-support CentOS 6 to the new, fresh CentOS 8. Stream should have started *instead* of a major CentOS release. Given RedHat shipped CentOS 8, they should have kept it going and shipped Stream in place of CentOS 9. Killing an existing release (especially with the time regarding the dropping of CentOS 6 support) negatively impacted community support that CentOS Stream feels stillborn to me.
